Good luck. Just remember to take your time and feel out the other players. Makes a big difference in live poker.

First hand, make sure you go all-in. If you do this everyone will fold most likely, then you muck your cards and proudly announce you had AA. Its a good scare tactic.

GL! I have found that there is alot less bluffing in live poker. However, They actually think that their J10 off is a good hand to raise with.

funny you should say that as night before last, i was playin in a tourney at Belterra, and this guy says before the tourney starts, its his third time playin live, but yet he still was helping the guy next to him who was in first live tourney. anyhow, first hand guy goes allin on 25 50 blinds. we have 3000 chips to start. two hands later, he did it again. everyone folds both times. point is, it works suprisingly well. :D

well the number: 20th out of 67. although i did not place in the money, i felt like a played really well the whole time. i wanted to portray a very tight image since i did not want people to think of me as a reckless kid. after 3 blind levels, when a little bit of discussion about us players at our table got goin, when the guy went to talk about me, he goes, "then we got this guy over here(me) who only plays AA or better(lol)!" since i had establised my image, i was able to steal the blinds and a few small pots without a showdown to double my stack up by the end of the second hour. at about the third hour, i had 8k in chips and blinds were 500/1k, and i got pocket jacks, so i raised to 2k, and had one caller. the board was A-x-x. i knew right then i lost, but for some stupid reason i went all in and got called with an a-5. all in all, not a bad night. everybody was very friendly and i received an invite to another tournament at the end of the month, so i am glad to be welcomed back and to have made some new friends. thanks for the support guys and gals!

When I play live poker tourneys, I'm just happy to not place last :D 20 out of 67 isn't bad.

It's difficult to toss away Pocket face cards, no matter the flop. At least, I'm sure you learned a bit about your game from this experience, and learned what to do, and what not to do.

Keep playing, and keep looking for ways to improve :)

Question- at 8BB I'm shoving jacks. online anyway. WHy play it any different live. Did you want the action? PLus why min-raise?

Sorry, just confuse-ed at the play. :)

1500 chips is a 16% increase even with no action.

Is there something different about live?

Yeah, I am a little confused with that last play as well.

Less than 10BB and pocket face cards. Did you underplay and then push postflop to give the impression of a strong ace?

JJ is always so tough to play, regardless of position or situation, that I am usually limping and leaving without improving postflop or pushing hard preflop to pick up whatever is in the pot unchallenged.

Regardless, congratulations on getting out to your first live tourney and going as deep as you did. I don't know about you but my first live tourney was a lot of fun but a little nerve-wracking as well with the newness of playing live. I placed 14th out of 367 and still cannot tell you how I got there.
