I am going to start 3 tabling the DoN tables starting at the lowest level. The rules are that to move up I must have played at least 100 games at that level and have 20 buy ins for the next level. My goal for the first level is to win 70 out of the first 100. I intend to post the results in this thread at the end of every day and I encourage others to join in on this challenge.

Also, if 3 tables is not enough and I find myself bored I will switch to 5 tables.

A lot of tables to keep up with, but I guess you're the man. Please tell me what site you play on and what your screen name is, I'd love to participate in the challenge!

Its not really a challenge, or am I missing something. Is there a prop bet involved?

What amount of money are you trying to work up to? I don't see a goal really besides trying to win 70 out of the 100 first matches in that first level. Good luck on everything though.

Ok time for some results:
  • Games played: 11
  • Games won: 9
  • Profit: $5.90
  • ROI: 48.76%
Hasn't been to difficult so far - I have had my money in ahead nearly every time but haven't taken the bad beats yet so we'll see what happens when the bad beats start pouring in.

The money goal is to eventually be rolled for the 100 dollar double or nothings which is $2000 however I will probably need to have more than 20 buy ins for the higher levels so the short term goal of winning 70 out of 100 is the goal I am focusing on right now.

Update

I knew the great run wouldn't last
  • Games played: 21
  • Games won: 14
  • Profit: $4.90
  • ROI: 21.21%
These results are about what I expected at this point and puts me on track to win 67 games so if I continue like this and win a couple extra I should reach the 70 mark. It could have very easily been 16 wins at this point but I took 2 brutal beats in my last session.

Thoughts?

You can't win them all. 67% is still a pretty good run so far. Just need to catch a run to make up those 3 other games to hit the 70% mark.

I am cutting this challenge short due to the fact that I find these double or nothings to be excruciatingly boring and are not very profitable.

I wasn't going to say anything, but I was kind of thinking the same when I saw that you had played won 14 out of 21 games and only won $4.90, but profit is profit and for people that are starting low that is something... What were your final stats before you thought about quitting?

I ended up winning like 17 of 28 but i had to start 7 tabling which cut into my profits because they were so brutally boring. Profit was like 3.20. I started playing razz because it is more fun. I actually played a 8.80 buy in tourney and placed second out of 24 for like 56 bucks so I think if razz continues to be profitable and fun then I will just stick with it. (Used to play strictly hold em but the edge there isn't as big as it used to be and it is just not as fun as it was when i sucked)

DoN tournaments are profitable but you have to have a bankroll for playing at least with a buy in of 5$ and you have to win at least 6 from 10 to a have a small profit...i thing that a good poker player will win a lot of cash from DoN

this is true but i don't have the patience for them anymore. PS i did this same challenge at the 5 dollar level and ended up winning 63 of 100 but it still never was much fun.
