before the flop... cool or uncool?

I was just in a freeroll (yea i know donk-a-rama) then this one idiot kept calling out his cards before he goes all-in preflop. People would call but he would still nail it. he did it like five times in a row. Finally I'm dealt a made hand, it's my turn and once again he calls out his cards. I thought I could beat him (you can only get lucky so many times) so I limp and he shoves. I thought I could beat him knowing he only had 3 outs to pair his overcard. not only does he nail two pair on the flop, he backdoors a flush.

is there something to calling out your cards or was he just an extremely lucky fish? Extremely lucky. freakishly lucky. Almost like he knew. I dunno. maybe I'm pissed that he knocked me out but just in the manner he did it. ruined my poker evening, don't even feel like playing. Maybe just as well since I havent been getting very many good hands, just alot of 83's and ace rags. gaaawd.

</rant>

Ima go try some HORSE.

Calling out your cards while anyone else is in the hand, pre-flop or post is against the rules of the poker sites. You can get a warning or banned depending on their mood at the time.

while i feel calling out your cards is totally wrong it does give the other player the advantage of knowing if they want to call or not and yes i believe this guy was just very lucky also must be an idiot or he just wanted to get out

there is usually a mute button on most sites also, if you can't hear the idiot it isn't going to affect your play.i would try to not let anything affect you in a freeroll, actually practice shrugging it off and keep going, forget about it and keep playing, well unless he got you allin, but i mean practice your chipstack being your bankroll, no matter how high or low it gets thats all you have. concentrate on that, how are you doing against the table, who can put you all in, watch for new players sometimes they sneak on and have you outchipped, watch the guy to the left, if he constantly autofolds, throw a raise in once in a while, forget the lobby you can check at break, there is alot of things you can do to keep your mind busy, alot of the retardation factor will dissappear. if he donks off 10 players he is actually doing you a favor, thats 10 you don't have to worry about. it's not your job to police the table, just protect your stack.

A guy like that will make you want to punch a hole in your monitor....especially if he busts your AA after an all in pf. Not much you can do. You have to find a way to laugh about it or you will go insane. That play can't consistantly win in the long run.

It's against the rules, but I don't mind (at least most of the time). If someone is dumb enough to do that, let 'em. They're a ticking time bomb.

I have been playing in fulltilt and have had some players doing the same thing stating that they had to go and everytime they would get the hand and knock out one or two people. the whole thing just makes me mad.

No, pokerstars allows you to tell others your hole cards pre-flop and/or post-flop. Apparently pokerstars has different rule(s) than live poker.
Don't know why.

Most cases will usually stop when you remind them they can lose all $ in their accounts for rules violations. Never had anyone continue after I've reminded them of this.

Wait a minute... I can talk about my hand or misinform people if I want, usually dont, but questioning and making statements by players IN THE HAND is OK in my book. Not sure about the site-by-site online rules...

i did that once calling out my hand but it wasnt cuz i was being a jerk i was doing it to give away my chips because i had to leave. i took out like 4 people doing so in this quest to give away my chips :) lol. but my chat was disabled after that incident without warning so i think it was due to me calling out my cards

I think I've played with this guy. He is as annoying as hell. And to make matters worse, he actually has the nerve to talk about how badly everyone else is playing for calling him when he has already told you what his cards are. If I ever sit down at a table with him again, I will definitely report him.

that is true thet dont allow it. its also unfair for other players in the hand that are still in because now extra cards are revealed

Pay no attention to the fool, play YOUR hand. Don't let him play it for you. A donk like that usually wont last long anyway. stay away from him till he gets stung once or twice, then he's usually ready for the take out. GL, and play your cards not your emotions!!!!!!!

Don't know why.

From Pokerstars Card Room Rules page.

"In cash games only, players still in a hand may chat about what cards they claim to hold. This is "coffee-housing," which is common in poker. However, players (in the hand or not) may not coach or otherwise suggest how another player should play his hand. For example, it is okay to say "You should call; I'm bluffing." It is not okay to say, "You should call; he's bluffing."

In a ring game, it's permitted, in a tourney, it is not.

Most sites view calling your cards as a form of collusion, since it is obviously not in one's self-interest.
