I just got a book for Christmas that I'm on the verge of reading today. It's called "Capo's Book of Poker tells." I just wanted to know if anyone has read it to give me their opinion on it. I figure it would be good to have a book dedicated to another aspect of poker, reading players. What do you think?

I picked up Caro's book myself a few weeks ago, and yeah, it's nice. I haven't played any live games since I bought it so can't give you any stories of big bluffs I pulled off using the information in it, but I can see how it would be mighty useful.

Caro's book is the definitive book on poker tells. The pictures may seem a bit dated but the information still applies today.

I also believe Caro put out a video version of this demonstrating the different tells.. can anyone confirm this?

Yes, i have it. Great video, more than 1 hour of just tells, althought most of them are over-acted in the video. Mike Caro is really funny, he´s crazy.
In relation to tells themselves, i think that them and the luck as the most important part of the game, are the two big stereotypes of poker.
They are a factor of the game, but not so important as most people tend to believe. In you are a live player, it´s good to learn most tells and to don´t do them, but if you are going to make a decision just based in if your opponent touched his nose as he went all in, then you´re wrong. Tells are a factor of the game but a very little one, in my opinion. The "real" tells are betting patterns.
It´s a great book to read and very useful, but you have to be careful in how do you apply the information.

Agree, its proballly one of the best book on tells but dont start looking for them every time you sit down. Youll find yourself thinking someone has a tell because of the way they are acting and fold a winning hand or call and lose big. Tells are part of poker for sure, but you will usually only get a definite read off of a new player.

Update: I just finished reading the book and I would like to give my opinion on it. This book is easy to read and follow, not to mention well organized. The book has hundreds of pictures that clarify what Caro is explaining to you. It also has a quiz at the end to see how much you learned from it.
After a while, many tells become very similar. It relys on this "science of tells": "Weak is strong and strong is weak."
Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone who was trouble figuring out whether a player is bluffing or not. You wouldn't believe how many tells there are that could tell you a player's hand or playing style. You could prbably finish the book in about 2 hours or less. It's that simple to read and understand.
