The best out there and i would have to agree with the other is High Stakes Poker. They should make more sessions of it though seemed like it was over in no time.

I agree. High stakes poker is cool. I also watched other shows like Poker after dark, aussie millions, but high stakes poker has less talking (except the beginning and end of show) and there's a lot of nice hand there.

High stakes poker is pretty good, but I have also been watching some of the clips of the "Full Tilt Million Dollar Cashgame" on youtube. It's filmed in the UK has a similar format to HSP, but it seems much more intense.

I prefer HSP to. I will say a few of the Poker After Dark series playing a cash game is interesting.

I used to say HSP as well until Poker After Dark started having their cash games. It was during the last season of HSP that I realized how much Gabe and Alonzo's constant, inane chatter got on my nerves.

With PAD, Ali is annoying, but at least he mostly keeps his mouth shut so I can hear the players. We also get a lot less editing with PAD, so we see more hands.

I admit, though, the PAD tourneys are pretty lame.

Yeah I agree with the consensus that HSP seems to be the most entertaining, I wasn't aware poker after dark were doing cash games, will check them out. Not much choice over here in the UK, theres a few party poker events and coverage of some EPT events aswell.

Hello,

On High Stakes Poker, it was mentioned there is a half a million dollar buy in. who pays that/ The player or a sponsor?

If it is the player, how much more do they really have in $ amounts to afford to playing at that level.

Are there any links to, how rich or poor, let's say the top echelon or most recognizable players are worth?

The player pays. It's casino chips I believe.

However, players do get paid to be on the show, and their sponsors may pay them to be on TV, and players often have people buy a piece of their action, so that really softens the blow to the bankroll.

I do like Poker After Dark too. I watch 2 months 2 million but only because I started watching it. 30 minute show-2 minutes of poker and 28 minutes of commercials and 4 20 something kids trying to have half the fun I used to...I had a fraction of their money but I had a Harley and man I tore it up. Good times.

High stakes poker is probably the best poker show on tv but i dont get to watch it anymore, i switched satellite providers. But in a close second would have to be poker after dark.

High Stakes Poker, and it isn't even close for me.

I really like the cash game episodes from the Aussie Millions each year as well, they hardly qualify as a "show" though since we're really only talking six episodes over the space of three years. But the commentary is generally pretty good, and they even showed some high-stakes Omaha cash game action this year which was fun.

Special mention to Live At The Bike too - when they're on their game or they've got an especially wild table it more than makes up for what they're lacking in production values.

HSP is my favorite by far also.

The one I used to like a lot was Celebrity Poker on Bravo. Whatever happened to that show???

I liked that they showed more than just the final table of a tournament, and the commentary was good (even if Mark Seif does get on my nerves).

Unfortunately there was only one season of it though. It was done at the height of the poker boom by the same guys who made the WPT but they never got the funding and broadcasting sorted for another season.

HSP is by far my favorite. The million dollar cash game mentioned by bilgert was also something I enjoyed. Not sure if it a season regular like HSP.

I'd have to agree, HSP is a great show. I haven't watched it really at all on T.V. but the GSN has all the episodes up on youtube for people to watch. That might be the reason I like that show the most, it's easy to watch whenever I'd like to.

You get the occasional show on terrestrial TV here, which goes down a treat when your playing it online aswell as watching it on TV with a kronenberg at hand.

I like PAD because it shows all the hands played. It shows how many hands the pros actually muck and what they muck. Sometimes it can get a bit boring because it will be folded around to the BB for a number of hands. That's what I like about it. It's not just the all-in hands that a lot of the other shows focus on.

Some of the shows are so edited that all you see are things like the 72o that cracked the pocket aces. To me, that's not poker.
