Poker is a sport of mind, where you have to concentrate for hours on end. And when I am playing poker, several times, it has passed the second hour that it is impossible to play, just like studying, watching TV, even doing physical exercises, would you like to know your opinion?!?!
Has anyone here overcome this, or do they realize they have some kind of concentration disorder !? when it arrives in the third hour of the game, sometimes when it passes the first 30 minutes there is already a mental disorder, and I can't even get past the 15 minutes.
and if someone got over it, what did they do to get focused ?!

The disadvantage in the tournament game is that at some point, after a few hours of play, there is physical and mental fatigue where the player no longer makes the same decisions as at the beginning when he was rested. When I get to those moments I tell myself that my opponents are in the same situation and that I am not at a disadvantage, so I restart a little psychologically :)

I have actually suffered from ADHD since I was a kid but find that I can always focus when I play poker tournaments. I feel like the over-stimulating surrounding of a casino actually helps me keep calm. When playing online, I’ll have TV on in the background. Sorry for not being able to answer the question, but I’m following the thread for more discussion.

I’ve found that I focus and play better when multi-tabling (assuming we’re talking about playing online). I can get up to a number of games that decreases my ROI (because I’m focusing on my hourly), but before that point, unless I’m at a serious final table or weird ICM dynamic requiring mental gymnastics lol, I prefer to be multi-tabling. Otherwise, I start to feel much like you described, OP! :)

Hi.
I just play poker no more than 4 hours a day. This is the optimal time for me to stay focused. In addition, I usually play no more than three tables at a time, and in fact, thanks to this, I have time to think carefully about each of my decisions.
Good luck.

Hello. I have had that experience, too. One thing that helps me to focus is writing notes on other players at the table. It keeps me more focused.

I play HU rather than full table. HU require full commitment
I like to play more hands. I do Not like full table
6 Max. concentration better with multi table
Long break from poker and I can last longer at the tables
Tournaments can be draining. Try to focus on other things between hands. 8 hours is a long time if you make final table of big MTT. It’s like a full days work

After hours you lose focus but the 5 minute breaks help me to focus again, it happens that it is easy to get distracted because distractions are within reach, it is best to create a routine to be focused on the game and without distractions:jd4::jd4::jd4::jd4:

For me this is a reason to stop playing.

Walk the dog - exercise - checkin with family - do something different than looking at a computer screen.

Like driving - poker requires some concentration.

Good luck !

ATTENTION DISORDER in poker

I personally have ADHD and I find it difficult to maintain my patience after the tourney has closed. I get fidgety when players lag and lag! This completely lights a fuse under my !@#$ blank, and I start betting foolish!

ATTENTION DISORDER in poker

If you have a short attention span there's a very good chance you will not be good at poker.

Pvenditto! To a degree I agree with you! However, I am ADHD (medicated) and that doesn't make us bad poker players, in-fact we can be really good players! I carried a 4.0 in college! However, people lagging and not betting quickly annoys those of us that are hyper and want to get the hand over! ;) Good luck playing PVenditto! Happy Thanksgiving too! Gobble Gobble

I imagined the situation of many tables at the same time, and in this case we are always thinking and with that adrenaline of play, and I realized that whenever I play only one tournament, it is more difficult to concentrate, when I play more than one tournament at the same time, the chances of staying in ITM increase.
Thanks for your attention and words, more success at the tables and GOOD MORNING !!! : D

Well, I think it is the most important thing that I must solve to become a winning player, many times I manage to concentrate for hours but only 5 minutes of deconcentration are enough to make me lose and that everything has been in vain, I do not get discouraged and I work on it to be able to reverse that situation.

not everything is so simple, everything comes over the years, playing every day you practice, learn

I find quite the opposite - as I get deeper into tournaments, my focus improves and I play better. That is why I play multiple tournaments to start with because my concentration is not good, but 4-6 tables will keep me focused on my computer.

I also make sure that I remove all outside distractions. No TV, no phone, the dog has been walked and put in another room. All of these things reduce distraction and improve concentration.
