I started playing online a few years ago & like a donk, I'd deposit $50, lose it all & reload.

Gave it up for a 6-8 months, studied the game & came back, this time, just playing freerolls.

Cashed in a few at Doyle's Room & bodog, and now play the SnG's. My BR is up to $200 at Doyles.

What surprised me about Ferguson's experience, was how long he sat around the $7.50 mark, something like 6 months. From the time I started playing again, it took me 2 months to break $100.

I'd like to hear from others who have started from zero and compare notes.

The most difficult part for me was moving to ring games. My tourney play is much stronger than my cash game.

I started about four months ago and won some freeroll seed money ($7). Since then I have been playing $2 SNGs. I limit myself to one or two a day and I've slowly built up to about a $50 BR. It was up to $60 but I've had a bad run as of late. I'd like to get up to $100 so I can move up to the $5 SNG. I've played some ring but don't do well there.

I try to practice with the Freerolls and paly money games. I do much better there as I have gotten up to $300 k but people play differently when there is real money at stake even if it's only $2

Well I did it, though it took a little more than two years. All started with a cardschat freeroll cash back at Titan Poker. Thankfully the majority of my wins have been this year.

Started with 1.20 from a freeroll on pokerstars. Played when I had the time, mostly miniscule limit cash games and a few SnG's, after a few months got up to around 50$. Decided to get ballsy, didn't follow great bankroll management, but it paid off (moving up to 5$ sit n goes) After I got above $100 i decided to cash out 50$ (im a poor college student) and keep going. It's been about 2 months since I did that and I'm still around 60 bucks, playing mostly .05/.10 NL cash games and 3$ sit n goes. Its hard for me to find the time to play MTT's.

MTT's is very difficult; exhausts me to play long tourney; I prefer SNG one table.
My goal is now to specialize myself in sng.

Freerolls are great to create us bankroll!

I won $35 of the Ultimate cardchat freeroll, built that up to about $100, then went into a looong, ugly slide to $0.
Took about 2 months. Ah well.
Those of you that continue to thrive look even more amazing to me, having been on the "what goes up must come down" end of things.

I recently started to try out the Ferguson challenge and I'm very slowly building up. I tried this out on FullTilt, Bodog, and UltimateBet and I've had the most success with Bodog. I initially went up to about $30, then slid back down to $9 and now I'm back up to $18.

What I've found useful in my recent winnings is keeping track of my winnings/losing on an excel spreadsheet and making notes on how I played for the game (played too tight, flat called too often, misplayed top pair, etc).

It's great to see that people have had success in this - gives me some hope!

You obviously did not stick to BRM strategy as outlined by Chris, otherwise you would not have busted, and could not make your last comment. The idea with proper BRM is to never 'come down' to where you are bust. Read up on it, it's clear you don't know what the Fergsuson philosophy is.

I have taken a slight slant on Fergusons challenge and done it the other way around.

I have gone from 10,000 to zero...

LMAO, I already tried that. Pretty easy. Thought I'd do something more difficult this time.

I started playing poker a year and 7 days ago and so far turned $0 to just a little under $2000. Depending on how much time I can devote to poker, it's not unrealistic to believe I could get to $10000 within the next 6 months, which would be about the time it took Ferguson

i have signed poker770 recently, and there is perfect place to start this experiment. i won a 2.09 dolar ticket to a tournament in a freeroll (this was the hardest part- 600 people for 16 places). at that tournament only 50 people registered and top 35 paid, :) i came as 6th but won 5 dolars. so entered another tournament. 45 people registered for 1 dolar. all top25 took 3 dolars. so i have 7 dolars in 3 tournaments from zero. but that sites tournaments are crazy even if you sit out, you can get a few dolars. so i chose that site to be host of my own experiment. if i can be patient enough , i believe i can do too. wish me luck :)

I 1st cashed in a freeroll in march, only been playing about a year. I don't play SnG's as often as I would like but as of last night my stats are 58 games avg. steak $2. 29% R.O.I. $45.00 TTL profit SnG's. also had a 3rd pl finish in the only 180 $2 mtt that I've played for $45.90. ( I will try another 180 tourny when I pass the $50. mark)That + the freeroll $ that started me out I would be @ about $110 if it weren't for trying to play .10/.20 ring games and not wanting to stop till I thought I could conquer them. (I am just geered to tournament play) Now sitting @ $36 working my way back up from a low of $24.
I had a great come back last night in a $1+.25 (9) SnG. 1 hr in with 5 people left, 150/300 Blinds, I got 2 pr counterfitted by runner runner 10's and lost. Went down to 150 chips that was all-in and held up the next hand in SB and came back to win. By the time it was down to 2 players 30 min latter 400/800 Blinds I had 11,200 to his 2,300. ( once again proving the chip and a chair theory ) Definitly my best come back.!!!!

me too. right now my freeroll run isn't quite as impressive as these other stories, but I have like 35 dollars in my account from freerolls.

How long did that take? I have $.96 in my account (should have $1.06 but my idiot friend talked me into a $.10 tournament) and I've been playing since June. July was a rough month - I didn't make any money playing freerolls. Made my first cash ($.10) since June yesterday but got some bad luck earlier today.

I have taken a slight slant on Fergusons challenge and done it the other way around.

I have gone from 10,000 to zero...

not as easy as you think

what ferguson did isnt as easy as you think....takes alot of discipline to avoid the urge to play bigger money games once the bankroll grows.

I had the fortune (or would it be misfortune) to run into Ferguson during this quest of his. He graciously knocked me out and although I am a mere footnote in his history book, I can proudly say that I helped Jesus Ferguson achieve a great feat. =)
