Wow. I just love it when someone takes their own personal problems and assumes that since they suffer with this problem, everyone else must as well.
Sort of like Santorum and the UIEGA.
Addictionology is an actual area of study. One of the funny things about addictive behavior is that those exhibiting addictive behavior will likely show a proclivity to addiction in many areas of life and living. They will show a propensity to Alcoholism, Drug Addiction (legal or otherwise), Food Addiction, Sex Addiction, etc. blah blah blah.
Most adults do not exhibit addiction behavior. They can have a drink or three and not be driven to a state of falling down drunk every time they do drink. They can have a faithful relationship with one partner at a time. They can separate the entertainment of playing poker from the rest of many far more important aspects of living like spouse and children.
Folks who are prone to black and white statements like, "Poker IS an addiction." might have some realities of life issues as well. Morality has a few absolutes (we probably should not murder innocent people) and quite a bit of "shades of gray", hence the notion of moderation.
I hope the fellow in the video gets the help he needs to tame his addictions.
Do not worry about me, however, as I have a firm grasp on moderating my own adult activities. I am also willing to take full responsibility for the consequences of all of my self-moderated activities, as I am an adult, mostly.
