A freind of mine keeps telling me to play the 5 10 suited preflop. I just have a problem playing this hand. But I am always looking to learn new tricks. If it is a good hand can you explain why.

Well, you can't make a straight without either a 5 or a 10. lol. seriously, what do you hope to accomplish by playing 5,10 suited?

10 5 sooted is good because of the straight thing chiefer mentioned but the problem is that it can only make 1 flush. 10 5 offsuit can make all the same straights and twice the flushes! Now that's the shit!

Not a good hand at all but you can play it sometimes from the button, and from the small blind. In the big blind just check or very rarely call a raise, depending on stack sizes and your knowledge of the raiser.

I love that line! I play with a guy who abides strictly by that rule and just bite my tongue when he spews that logic.

I can get 5 10 suited to work under certain circumstances:
1) You have an EXTREMELY good read on the person you are making a move on.
2) This is for stealing purposes only.
3) Nobody else has entered the pot
4) I must be on the button
5) I know the SB and BB are extremely soft and I have been stealing from them many, many times so I know they are gonna fold.

If you do NOT meet conditions 1-5, then throw it away.

Does your buddy play on Full Tilt? If so, under what name?

NOT! I think I would take a pass 100% of the time I get these two cards. Auto fold on this end!

A freind of mine keeps telling me to play the 5 10 suited preflop.

Don't listen to the others here. Any 2 suited cards is real power. 10-5, 8-3, it doesn't matter. Keep playing them. Now, where did you say your friend plays at? ;)

Well of course you do. AA is just a 2 outer 3 of a kind draw. 5/10 suited is a double pair draw (6 outs) plus 11 flush outs. I'll take a 17 outer over a 2 outer any day.
