I think i got a hang of playing heads up sngs i won the last 11 $2.00 + .15 HU SNGs I played. Do you guys think i should try to move up the stakes or stay where i am? I find it pretty funny that i dont have much interest in cash games anymore and now i find playing tournaments and sit and go's more pleasurable. Before i use to think that SNGs and tournaments were boring. i guess all the tournaments i've been playing in cards chats help me find my new found love of tournament games.

Since playing heads up sit and go's I believe my reading abilities heads up has increased significantly because I almost always know when someone is bluffing or has a good hand. Also i've learned how to analyze my opponents better and quicker. Other things I've learn to do during my sit n go's is to be able to see my opponent's tendencies and making an counter to that.

I'm glad im a much better heads up player so if i make it to a final table and make it heads up to someone they are in a world of hurt :). Now i think i'm going to train how to be a better tournament players. I will be participating in more CC tournaments (freerolls and buy ins). A lot of people would suggest poker books but i think the best way to get better is by experience and playing a lot of poker. Hopefully i'll be able to earn back the money i lost last year. I just wanted to let you guys know what i am up to and maybe you want to try what im doing right now.

Your sample size seems very small. You would want to be able to play about 200 to 300 games at the stake and prove that you are a constant winner. Even in HU, someone can be fooled into thinking they are better than they actually are. As you move up, you want to play more games at the particular limit before moving up. (eg, 400 at 5$ before considering going to 10$, 600 at 10$, etc etc)

I don't agree with this. If you have the BR to move up to $5s or $10s, try some. Enough with this "prove to yourself you are good enough" nonsense. If you have the $, move up.

P.S. The $5 heads up sngs are not much different than the $2s. You should be fine.

If someone has the BR its not a bad idea to move up and try a few sitngos at a higher level... even if they lose money (and its expected that at least the first few times, you're going to lose money) its good experience.

Both marginal and jordan are correct. As long as your brm rules allow you to move in stakes you can definitely take shots at a higher level. If you find that you aren't winning enough to stay profitable, you have to be able to swallow your pride and move back down to the lower stakes. As far as I can tell there isnt a ton of difference in skill level for the $2-$10 (even the $20 has tons of fish) so brm is probably your main concern at this point.

I recently moved to HU SNGs too, at the same stakes as you, and find them a heck of a lot of fun. I definitely feel like it has improved my game a ton, especially at hand reading ability.

There really is no difference between the $5 and $2 HU SNGs. I haven't played any $10 ones with my meager bankroll but my buddy plays them and says the difference at those stokes is marginal.

You're fine to move up if you want to ). See you at the tables!

Recently i started steering away from cash games aswell, and am playing games that were not fun to me at all a few months ago. I think cash games just wore on me. 5 years of nothing but cash, think it was a good run!

i figure you don't really have to "prove" yourself, if you think you're good enough try it out. grats on your 3 $5 SNG's keep up the good work and when you're reaady do the same thing, try $10 SNG if it successful get comfortable and move up again GOOD LUCK
