i read someone's post earlier of having 20% roi
and i was wondering if that is so good how bout 120%
i used to be 270% roi but i had some bad runs then
started playing private tourneys but i am gonna head
back to them
but anyway i am 120% roi on mtts on here and higher than
that on FT
so should i start bragging?

Depends on how many tournaments you've played...

Still cant say. 120% seems godlike, but if thats after 10 MTTs and you've just been on a good run, then no thats nothing to brag about. If you've played something like maybe 100+ MTTs and your ROI is 120%, then maybe but the sample is still a bit small.

So...I really cant say.

Why dont your sharkscope searches agree with what ur saying? Is it because of all the private Tourneys?

...because sharkscope only tracks SNGs?

Anyway, if your ROI can change from 270% to 120% in a relatively short period of time then you don't have anywhere near a sufficient sample size.

wow i wasn't asking so i could get flamed
i was just curious
do people ever answer a question without sarcasm
or just taking pot shots?
Or is politeness and friendliness just outdated and oldfashioned

Nah no reason to brag yet at all. Looking on officialpokerankings.com you do have an ROI of 120%, BUT you have also only played 27 tournaments (hardly an awesome sample size). Anyway brag all you like about your $100 in total prize money and $54 profit.

I have also done pretty good in my new pokerroom (Ongame) account, 274% ROI, but unfortunately this is also only from 49 tournies. Lets compare in about a years time.

of what i play is private tourneys and freerolls
i never said it was an awesome sample size
and noone was bragging i was asking a simple question
i thought that was what this forum was for
noone told me that your questions had to be approved
and criticized

Not really criticizing. You asked if it was time to start bragging because you had an ROI of 120%. Now that 120% is based on a sample size of 27 results. 27 is not an adequate number of tournaments to get an accurate feel for how well you are playing and if that ROI can be sustained. Yes you may be a very good player who will continue to have such a high ROI or it could be just a result of short term variance or a run of good cards.

I don't believe that anyone who has responded to your question is criticizing you, they have just said that maybe you should play a greater amount of tournaments before to see where you are really at before bragging.

Nope, no one is being criticial.

Lets see, If i play 1,000 MTT's (enough for you ?)

Its the sunday 100K ( $10 buyin), with an average field of 20,000 and I win it once (for 20K), and fail to cash 999 times.

That means my ROI is 100% (without the rake). Now am i lucky or good ?

The thing is with MTT's is that you need literally thousands of games played before you can take into account the huge variance that goes with these games. Not meaning to be overly critical but i hope you realise that a 120% ROI is an excellent return, its just that your sample is too small. Best of luck in the rest of your games.

After finishing first or second in 3/4 of my first $3 CC tournaments, I used to have ROI of well over 1,000% for that level.

It's obviously dropped significantly since then.

Basically, 120% is probably unsustainable in the long run. While I don't have a lot to look at, SharkScope has you at -52% for S&G's, and looking at the Official Poker Rankings link, if one thing went wrong early in that April 4th game (which accounts for more than half your profits) you'd be nowhere near the 120% mark.

You do seem to be a winning player, and if you're doing even better in private tournaments then stick with it.

For example, tatta was the #1 earner in the <$100 HU games in 1997, but had a substantially lower ROI. Consistency over the long haul is what we're looking for, (not that you're not doing very well!):

Note: tatta has a 14% ROI now.

i think 120% is pretty much the bottom line you need (in my opinion) and is where i'm currently at if you play low-mid stakes poker. that means for every $15 tournament you do, which oculd last a while, you'll get $35 in return over an extended period of time, which only adds up so far. the lower your stakes the much higher it has to be i think for MTT i believe due to the length of the games. several people out there post 800% + on hundreds of high stakes tournament games, just look them up on opr if you'd like.

@ SavagePenguin

Well since MTTs are alot more variable than SnGs, you simply cannot possibly see a 100+ ROI at decent stakes for SnGs, but with one big cash somebody can have 1000+ ROI for MTTs even over alot of games.

Also the ROI on SS is totally shot and inaccurate.

Same ROI even tho i have less games and 6x the profit for same average stakes.

120% ROI for MTTs is extremely nice...if you have a sample of >500 games.
