Using peoples' moves against them

In the low stakes games I frequent I've been able to spot some signature moves from certain aggressive players. For example, one I know of likes to make a small bet from early position after the flop when he has a weak hand to see if anyone else has anything. Another guy I used to play against would check-raise all in when he had a monster and ONLY when he had a monster.

I've noticed that when these players see someone else use their move they assume it's for the same reason they would. The other day I was able to induce a big bet by making a small bet under the gun with the first guy I mentioned. He assumed I was weak so he raised me, then when I reraised allin he assumed I had a monster. I got the check-raiser to fold top pair after giving up some chips with complete air once.

Has anyone else had success with this type of move? Does it tend to go away in the higher stakes?

I run into players I've played before all the time. I keep notes so spotting betting habits it a bit easier

I find that keeping notes on players is essential.
Do they overplay an Ace? Do they raise all the time?
Aggressive? Loose?

I try to keep records on everyone I meet, that file is getting very large!

All of this depends on who you are playing. Professionals however probablywont fall for those kind of tricks. They analise your moves form all anglesand see why exactly would someone do that move in that specific situation, considering what happened before, and what outcome they want by doingthe move. Yes it can be very helpfull to do such analisis of other players, and doing those moves could influence them to fold... but that can not bethe only thing u take into consideration. You cant just do it cause u knowhe probably will have a hunch u got something, u gotta take his cardsinto account, and make sure that all the moves you made already arenttelling him the total opposite. Thats how a poker player should think.
