I think i found the worst part of my game and the reason why i am losing. When ever i get a bad beat it always ruins my game. I try to play more aggressive, to win the money back. i have tried thinking about my play and stopping and all that, but it does not stop me from going on tilt again. Is there anything i can try and do that might help me from not going on tilt and being able to continue playing and not stop my session.

YES! Read the posts here on CC. To find them use the search at the top of the screen and type in tilt.

to help my tilt issues a friend on here recommended the book The Poker Mindset. After reading it I really found myself IN better mental state and even had a CC member comment on my positive approach during a recent gross cooler session.

Basically it boils down to appraching each hand as a unique problem and all u can do is play each hand correctly. If someone puts a bad beat on u, u take no shame in it because u now u played it right.

My best advice mate, take a break! Watch a movie, play a computer game, read a book, cook something, do anything just don't play poker. Depending on how strong willed you are the break may only need to be for an hour or so. I had exactly the same problem. lose lose lose then chase chase chase. Doesn't work. Clear your mind, and when you are ready, jump back on. Just give yourself a break and don't beat up on yourself.

Just a fast and friendly question. When you are tilted you say you "try to play more aggressive, to win the money back".

Are you sure this is what you are actually doing? Are you going all in on top pair, or bottom two and losing? Or are you entering more hands and calling more bets... folding less, and chasing?

On one hand it doesn't matter since tilt is bad no matter how it manifests. But on the other understanding the mechanism of your tilt can help you to see it when it shows up and squash it.

Think of your lost chips as an investment. You have paid for information on that player. Now how can you take the information you "bought" to pad your bankroll

Yes, as long as you don't start thinking about 'buying' information more often than you should (i.e. you already know that the player has you beat, you've seen him play before, but you call for "information").

try not to get emotional, take a breather, splash some cold water on your face. you've got to really tighten up in tourney poker after a beat because players know the power of tilt.
