When playing tournaments and especially cash games Tight/Aggressive is a great style of play for different strategies. For Example:
JJ vs AK

Blinds:30/60

Flop: JKK

By now you should bet 3/4 of what the pot is currently at. by doing this you are allowing the opponent to view his hand and see that you have not bet pot or even exceeded the pot size which encourages him to call or raise suspecting you of bluffing and that he thinks he has the best hand.

Turn: A

Now you are in a tight spot because he now has the higher full house. If this is a NL game you should not check even though you are playing Tight/Aggressive because by doing this you are allowing him to put in an excessive amount of chips into the pot which could cause you to fold your hand. so the appropriate bet now would be to bet approximately 1/4. By doing this your showing that you have a hand which can cause the opponent to just call to see the river.

River: J

This card now leave you with quad jacks. Now that you have quads you should be double what the pot is. This leaves the opponent in a position that he will not want to fold which put him at a decision of all in or fold the highest full house.

Hey all i hope this helped lot of you poker players out there. Don't forget to subscribe =] Many more to come. :) Thanks and Merry Christmas :icon_sant

well... how do you know that somebody has an AK? when the flop comes JKK and you are holding JJ you know you are way ahead. Why do you want to scare the opponent? What if the opponent raised with AA? if you dont slow play it you may lose the future bets. If your opponent has AK he wont fold his hand no matter what. So even if you check the flop , most likely the turn and the river will be all in. So why rushing it on the flop and scaring away hands like AA, AQ, AT, QQ, possibly TT or KQ ?

You quoted this from somewhere ? Please credit the source.

I agree with TNW, by the way. To bet so large on the flop will chase out many middling hands that you really want to stay in.

You are saying that you know he has AK right?

So why would you bet out on the turn when you know you are drawing to 1 out the case J  This makes no sense to me, surely if you 'know' he has AK you should be check/folding the turn?

Or maybe i have just missed something?

Ummm....what? If we assume the villain ' knows we have some sort of hand' Then if the villain i'm going to be shoving the turn and getting it all in. Haha! Are you trying to suggest you expect the villain to slow down in fear with the nuts?!!!! Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

The way this hand plays out is that JJ pushes on the flop and AK won't fold ... and JJ wins on the river and both players call each other fish for playing the hand badly. What do the blinds matter here, anyway? I'd be ticked off that I got this hand when the blinds are so low. Dumb post. IT has nothing to do with a Tight Aggressive (losing) strategy for a tournament.
