I have a problem with taking tournament play to the cash tables, what is the best advice someone can give me.
What is the essential difference?
Any advice would be great.
I do ok in tournaments , ive cashed a lot of times and won a few but i just seem to lose when i play cash, ive tried playing micro 0.05/0.10 (find it hard to play real poker, people dont take it serious enough)
0.25/0.50 (better but just seemed to get my money in at wrong time and was outdrawn a lot when i had the better hand on flop or turn)
2dollar 4 dollar(i just didnt have the bankroll for this though i think the play was better)

u just have to be more conservative in a cash game. U dont always have to bet and make moves.

The biggest difference between cash games and tournament play is perspective. Tournament play is a great leveler of the playing field it don't matter if your personally rich or spending your last dollar, when you get knocked out of a tournament your out.

In a cash game you can buy back in. A millionaire with nothing to worry about in his life can play a .05/.10 Max 10.00 buy in and re-buy forever chasing flushes and inside straights. A poorer player can only afford 1 or 2 buy-ins. An individuals perspective range in a cash game is a whole lot wider than in tournaments.

This is why the better poker players adhere to strict personal bankroll management schemes that allows for variance, positive/negative streaks and the oddball millionaire throwing a party at the table.

Sounds like you have a good handle on tournament play. Develop a good bankroll management scheme for cash game play. STICK TO IT Discipline, position, play the players, position, bank roll management and position. If your new to cash games do you know how to define TIGHT?

Play like a ROCK until you know what TIGHT is and feel comfortable changing up your game, looking for opportunities and weakness's in your opponents. Fancy plays are all well and good when you get away with them but they often will blow up in your face that's the nature of the game. Basic fundamentals will carry you into the profit margin more often than fancy play.

Good Luck :D

Try checking out some strategy videos on Cardplayer.com (the website for Cardplayer magazine). There are many strategy videos on cash game play, with the narrator describing his/her play on the tables, while you watched a taped version of them (sometimes 3 or 4 at a time). Very interesting stuff in regards to player reads and how to bet out (often much differently then one might suspect).
These are 'winning plays' by winning players,.. not all that common to find online.
Check it out,.. you might just find it interesting. I have.

I too seem to prefer the tourney (sng) style of game,.. just seem to fare better in them. Don't particularly like the cash game,... if I don't 'like it', chances are I won't be gettin' good at it. I also find it kind of boring at times,...but probably because I am so much more familiar with tourney style of play. Don't fix it if it ain't broke.
