We all want to win that one big tourney. You know, the wsop package, the Sunday Million, Aruba. Our skills can get us there, with a little bit of luck. But what is the best way to get into these main events? You can buy in directly. But I don't know too many players with the entry fee in their back pocket. So what do you do? Satellites, my friend.

Satellites are a great way to get to the big show for a minimum investment. You can even get in for free. And just look how far two dollars can take you...does the name Chris Moneymaker ring a bell?

All of the major sites have some sort of promotional package they give away. Some are for the big travel poker package such as the WSOP, Monte Carlo, Aruba, L.A. Some are for the big buck games anywhere from $100,000 to $2.5 million dollars. And you can even win your way to private lessons with a pro or be on TV.

Satellites come in different playing levels. You are offered a myriad of choices for playing. You can play SNGs or tourneys. Buyin, freerolls, or player appreciation chips. Usually the satellites with the lowest buyin have the most people playing. You win one level at the satellite, you move up to the next. Or if you are playing at a certain level of buyins you win a direct entry to the main event tourney.

There is a nice twist on satellites on some sites that is my favorite way to win. They are called double or triple shootouts. The principal behind these are that they are like two or three SNGs together. You win the first table,(either 6 or 9-10 seaters); you go to the next table made up of the winners of the other tables. The winner of that table gets in the main event.

I have won entries to a few of the big events going the satellite way. They are the best way to try to make your dream come true for a litle investment.

Nice post my friend. Yes satellites are the way. I qualified for the EPT through a satellite and cashed into a large payout. A cheap entry and big payoff. Trust me people they are definatly worth the effort.

Nice post BBB. Nice info about satellites for some of the new players here. They are definitely a great way to get into the bigger buyin and glamorous events, but you always have to remember the BR management is still very key when playing these events. If your BR still can't sustain one of the $11.70 double shootouts into the Sunday Million, you shouldn't play it, no matter how much appeal there is to it.

Expand that a bit, covering the double and triple shootouts a bit deeper, and enter that as your article in the contest.
