Lets say its two to the flop and the villian is the preflop raiser and has position once the flop hits. He has a high percentage of post flop betting.
The flop hits your hole cards. You are first to act.
A)Do you check and expect to smooth call?
B)Do you check and expect to check -raise?
C)Do you donkey bet ( bet out before giving the preflop raiser a chance to bet out first)?
I know this a "depends" question.
I feel most of the time if my hand hits on the flop.I will choose option A and play the latter streets. If I feel the villian might put in all the chips right away I might choose option B..
I rarely use option C ...cause I feel it may give out that I hit and the villian will fold right away....but is this a viable option? Can donkey betting be effective?

Sometimes you can donk bet if you have a hand that is probably ahead and the board is really wet or you can use it as a bluff/semi bluff.

Sometimes you can c/r if you have a good hand and you know he calls with worse. You can also do it as a bluff

Sometimes you can check/call if you have a decent hand but you know he wouldn't call a raise with worse
