If you are squeamish do not read this, this is what I base my playstyle on and the metaphor works better than any other if you constantly think of your bankroll/stack in this way.

If you were to interrogate someone and torture them (or even do it just for revenge), if you do it too much in one go they can die either of shock or blood loss. Their body is your table. You are bleeding out your opponents slowly, slowly hoping you chip away enough to gain some satisfaction (gain chips). If and when you engage in any big bets you want to be SURE that you are the one cooler-handing the other NOT THE OTHER WAY. This requires you indeed to fold 2 pairs, three of a kinds and even low ended straights at significant moments. I also suggest never ever betting more than you want to lose with even KK or AA preflop (yes I am being deadly serious and am not a moron who doesn't understand probability). You basically need to think of this; you only kill the tortured person after you have enough information or response from them and 2 out of 7 cards is too little information to risk a huge amount regardless of how certain you are that they have given you enough information and are worth killing.

Slowly bleed the table out, slowly gain. You need to have the discipline to gain 4 cents and lose 3 and smile because this is GOOD. You need to seriously enjoy the slowness of it, you need to totally embrace what tight really is and you will profit.

I profit every single session now, for me to lose money the session needs to be under 9 minutes and have had consecutive bad beat variance.

You are there to slowly chip at your enemies, bet small but feel mighty despite it because it is your discipline that ensures you always walk away with more than you came with.

That doesn't mean you never get big gains, just only when you are 98% sure you got the upper hand. YES, you DO take their range into account but DO NOT LET LOOSENESS OF YOUR OPPONENT LOOSEN YOU UP. This is only necessary in tournaments, not in cash games. Be vigilant, remain supreme... Own the table, you are the alpha.
