I think it's probably safe to turf them - the low potential is so awful we may as well ignore it and there's only a few very specific boards that give us potential to actually win the high side.
It depends. Blind stealing against 2 nits, 558Qns is worth a steal.
Stop thinking about hands as having absolute value, and start thinking about hands + the situation you're in. Because quite often the situation you're in (the opponents you'll likely be in the hand with, position, steal opportunities) are often more important than the cards you hold.
Late position the hand is playable as it will flop a set 30% of the time. Depending on the board after the flop will let you know if you can continue with this hand. If three lows cards hit Let's say A47 I would say you are close to done with this hand. If there are two suits on the board you are done for sure facing any action. Spliting with the low here is not worth it in my opinion. Let's say we get an 8 on the Turn A478. Are you still gonna rely on that set to get you to the river and pull out the win? Is it worth half the pot? Let's say the turn is a K. A47K That presents a hand that is quite playable for you but still at risk.
Please play AA with caution in 08 and please try to play A with at least suited cards when possible. If you are going to be unable to release AA when str and flush board hit you are better off folding them pre flop.
