It seems that pokerstars gets spoken about more than any other poker sites - what's so good about PokerStars that everyone seems to love them?

Keep in mnd they are one of the two largest that allow players from the USA so it makes sense to hear about them and FTP the most here.

I have been playing poker for about a year, at 5 sites in total.

Only Pokerstars and Full Tilt have sufficient traffic to play at seriously, which is why they are favoured by many players.

I registered on a couple of smaller sites for deposit bonuses earlier this year (Cake and Carbon), and the lack of traffic can be very frustrating.

E.g.:
$2 SnGs never start because nobody joins.
Less than 5 running 6max tables at 2c/5c or 5c/10c

Personally for a recreational player, I would recommend FTP (with rakeback) over Pokerstars. This is because the reward scheme at pokerstars is tailored for high volume players.

For me its Full Tilt all the way! I prefer the software-its so much better on the eyes. PS gives me eye strain, and if I end up playing 1 MTT after starting with 6 it doesnt allow me to have it Full Screen. PS is fkn nuisance.

But I play on PS as well because the prize money is bigger in MTTs and there are a lot of fish! alot of fish! The MTT structures are also pretty damn good for some games.

In all fairness I wish it was the PS prize money and MTT structure on Full Tilt software. That would be my little heaven!

Agree with this. It's disappointing stars still holds a 2-1 player advantage over FTP. :(

pokerstars has the best tournaments because it has the most people. I dont think the software even competes with Full Tilt though. I wont be surprized if Full Tilt passes stars in a year or two

I have decided to go full time at PS. My results there have been good, but I've only been playing PS, with freeroll money, as a break from the full tilt grind.
poker stars has better options for play, constant guarantee tournies at all levels. And the guarantee usually doesn't get covered until 45-50 minutes into the tournament, by late entries, so your ahead of the field.
Micro SnG's
Loads of great live event giveaways(you can FR your way into).
2 different leagues, NAPT and PSO, great ways to freeroll into some playing money.
Almost always 2-1 players currently at tables, which means 2-1 in fish at tables.
It was always the software for me, hated it compared to FT, but its time to go to the best site in the world. I've waited to long.

You just can't beat the traffic and the tournament schedule that Pokerstars has.

PS always has a $2.20 tourney running-I like those. I also some of the tourneys on FT so I play both. You don't have to marry one site.

Stars has big turneys

I think the reason Poker Stars gets talked about alot is because they have lots of big tourneys and heavy volume of players as well.

PS UI sux sux sux

Stars' UI (user interface) just plain sux.

I have to click three or four times for my action to be registered.

Every other site is "smart" enough to register action with only a single click.

Stars' UI is absolute crap.

Don't blame Stars for your bad internet connection/Computer only few times that I have had to click more than once was at Full Tilt and when my connection was running a little slow.

I have never had a problem with stars not registering my action.
That being said, I prefer Full Tilt ring games, I seem to run better there, I know that sounds completely stupid.
I do like variations of tourneys on stars. They seem to have way more options for MTTs as well as sngs.

WHY???

The number 1 reason I would vote for Poker Stars is for their monster MTT's for little risk. You can play $30,000.00 tourney for only $3.30 and if you dream of playing at large events--they have tourneys of all size for most major events. That's pretty much it. :hello:

I think that P'stars is the #1 site and not to far back is FTP. Both these sites have great tourney's and many other things like promotions and freerolls. :)

I've now been playing PS exclusively. Its like the men vs. the boys of poker sites. I'm about 80% ready to cash out at FT, the 20% thats stopping me is having rakeback and promotion build-ups(IM, FTPA, FTP).
I think I'll :icon_puke , only cause I've been wanting to insert this smiley !

I play on Stars, Full Tilt, bodog, and Ultimatebet.

Stars is the only site where I have this problem, so I've concluded that their software is crap.

It usually takes one mouse click to make the Stars table the active window, then at least one more click, usually at least two to register action.

Every other site that I play at takes only a single click to both activate the window and to register action.

It is not the fault of my internet connection.

Stars' UI is absolute crap.

Pokerstars is all around good, good games, good action, good promotions, heard they have good support too. Plus they are doing good at getting their name out through commercials and other types of marketing.

Go to Options > Advanced Multi-Table Options in the lobby and check the single click table activation box. Problem solved :D

Here is how to fix that; In the Pokerstars lobby click on "options" at the top of the page. Scroll down to "advanced multi-table options". Put a check next to "single click table activation" click OK. That should stop having to click on a table more than once

Change your skin on PS if you don't like it, you can make it look however you want. I've never had a problem with full screen. I agree with the tournament structure though Full Tilt always seems to damn top heavy.
