The show will continue airing once a month thru January. Then I'd imagine it won't be picked up for a second season. It wasn't a success. I wouldn't expect to see the promos again on FTP unless they plan to relaunch it or something next year.

Oh man... you get these average people who got lucky in a massive freeroll, heads up with the pros... thats like playing $2NL and thinking you are good to be professional... you jump to $400NL and lose your ass.

I loved it when Gus came out with that middle aged woman and she was about to wet herself.

Actually, it does take skill go through all those tournaments.

The chances of them being lucky over and over and over throughout the first and the rest of the tournaments after that is unlikely.

Some times it can take skill but you go from a 2000 person freeroll where 90% of your competition are donk-fish and typically the good players will get sucked out on early on in the tourney. It's the LAG donk-fish players who have massive chipstacks at the beginning of any Free Roll tourney. freerolls take 80% luck and 20% skill IMO and unless you're trying to start a BR from absolutely nothing, then it's not a worthy investment.

However on that note. I entered a $0.10 + Rebuy tourney with a single bullet approach last year. Made it all the way to 57th place and won $4.89. $.10 tourney was essentially a crap shoot and if it wasn't for my suck-outs I would have busted out way early. AA vs. AK(me) flop K K 8... those kinds of suck outs. Freerolls involve alot of luck because of the massive field of unknown/unskilled players anyone that would waste their time in a .10c massive field tourney either has nothing to do (like me) or just in general sucks at online poker and are probably using the last ten cents in their BR.

I'm sorry when I watched face the ace I watched the amateurs who didn't know how to play heads up for crap. Way beyond their own skill level.

That one larger guy should have stopped before he thought he could win $1 Million. He got lucky against the previous pros. Greed pollutes the mind and eventually will bite you in the ass.

Thats true for the first tournament, but they have other ones you have to beat afterwords. It takes skill, suckouts won't just keep happening to the bad players, only the good players who keep playing over and over until they get out of the suckout shit will end up on the show.

I don't see how anyone can continue to be lucky for so long tourny after tourny. Saying it takes no skill to get on that show is a joke to me.

People judged Albert Einstein as a kid and thought he was an idiot.

Now your saying it takes no skill to get at the final table at WSOP?

You must support the government?

I have never been able to catch this show & I always wanted to.
I hope that I get a chance to see it as the idea of it, while not new, it does sound entertaining. And educational as well (Maybe more on what NOT to do.) But the more poker you watch / play the better you can become.
Watch, listen, do, and learn.
Just my .02
See you at the felt.

No I'm just saying HE got there by luck. And he looks like a total tool because he played 53s and went and told his wife he folded pocket Kings...

He's right. Luck is far and away the biggest determining factor in who wins these tournaments and donkeys go on huge winning streaks all the time.

Darvin Moon is not a good poker player - by his own admission, he only made the final table of the Main Event this year because he ran like god. He's not alone either. Chris Moneymaker is only an average player nowadays, and by his own admission he was much worse when he won the Main Event. Jerry Yang has proved time and time again since his 2007 win that he's a horrible player. And that's just considering recent winners and runners up.

Same happens to the people who wade through the pools of donkey blood to win freerolls and get on shows like Face the Ace. You don't have to be the best, and winning certainly doesn't prove that you're good. You just have to play OK and get lucky.

Face the Ace was basically a deal or no deal type game show.
Pick a door, play a pro and hope you win.

The host was good on the Sopranos but terrible as a poker host.
Also why do they allow the audience to come up to the tables when someone goes all in?

I think they are still finishing off the season but I doubt it will be back next year.

Poker has spawned way too many shows.
Aside from WSOP, WPT and High Stakes Poker they are all too crazy for me.

Two years ago FTP had the Poker After Dark series of FREEROLLS which had the same 180 and 360 player format as the FACE THE ACE. I played both and actually got to the 2nd round half a dozen times in the PAD and only once in the FTA. This didn't bother me because I went into to these to see how the cards would be coming to me. If I seem lucky with good pocket card and decent flops -- that was my signal to go play in some ring games for money. Most of the time I got better than normal cards in the Ring games - not always. I miss FTA tourneys for that reason. :D

Finally a player on this show made the correct decision--after beating Jen Harmon for 40K, today a guy named Brian Twitty decided to take the money and run.

The next episode is in January some time...
