I'm still working towards hitting my 1st 4 figure cash but maintaining a bankroll to at least be exposed to the opportunity has remained a challenge. Since I don't have the bankroll to buy into these tournaments I make use of satellites but this not only turns a 5 hour tournament into an 8 hour session, if all goes well, it is harder to maintain a return on investment. The payout ratio for satellites is less than that of tournaments and specifically where pokerstars is concerned you enter the tournament late if you succeed, which means it reduces the time you have to act or you'll bleed out, which makes it even harder to cash.
Perhaps it would be better to postpone the goal for the interim and first build up my bankroll. At a BRM of 100 buy-ins per tournament you need $1100 to play a $11 tournament which means I first need to have a 4 digit bankroll if I want to win a 4 digit prize... not very encouraging to say the least. Then you see a tournament with a 5 figure buy-in like this one mentioned in the title and it makes my head spin. At BRM of 100 buy-ins to play this $10 300 tournament you will need a bankroll of $1 030 000. You should have a million bucks in your bankroll, are you kidding me?
Are these players just taking a shot at this game because they can afford the buy-in and maybe because of the novelty as it is a once off or are you telling me they actually have the bankroll to play this? It even offers the option of 2 re-entries so you can spend $30 900 on this game if you want to, care to wager on how many players will re-enter? At a minimum $2500 progressive bounty a single KO hits my goal but with this much money on the line I don't see myself pulling the trigger. What about you?
