Total donkfest.

You cant tell me there is that much skill involved getting to where the payouts are actually decent. Some times you are looking at fields of 10,000-50,000 runners.

I'm even throughout thus far after 10 tourneys, but it just reminds me of the wsop main event of the last 20 years or so, before then, the player pools were a lot smaller and more well known, today they are so large and unpredictable that you almost never see the same faces going super deep year after year (with minor exceptions of course) and certainly no back to back winners.

I think I prefer bigger buy-ins like maybe the upcoming SCOOP, with more manageable fields, even if the payouts are a bit more moderate.

How about you?

Big fields always mean higher variance also. It is inevitable. I am not sure if players count in scoop will be lower seeing how many players can spend 109$ for sunday million today. High rollers are with much smaller amount of players but that's why they are called high roller and not everybody (definitely not me) can afford to play there. Regarding the micro millions - frankly i prefer the normal MTTs like hot and big instead of them.

A tournament is a tournament. Play it or don't.

SCOOP will also have huge fields.

I fail to see the problem.

Very large tournaments are indeed like buying a lottery ticket. And in top of that you need to be able to play for 10 hours, unless its a turbo. Which is hugely unpractical.

The solution is to play tournaments on other sites than pokerstars. This will also save you a lot of rake. On Pokerstars a 5,5$ tournament is no longer 5+0,5 as everywhere else, its 4,9+0,6. A 16,5$ tournament is not 15+1,5 as everywhere else, its 14,7+1,8. Only when you get to 22$ tournaments does Stars stop to charge you 20% more than all the other poker sites, and presumably many of the fields are then also smaller.

But until you are bankrolled and skilled for 22$ tournaments just play elsewhere and use Stars only for cash games and SnGs. This is, what they are good for, not tournaments. Even the regular ones are way to large, and the events are of course even worse. This was the situation even before COVID-19 and even more so now.

I dunno, speak for yourself!

I've freeroll-satty'ed into the Storm MM ME, cashed in 2 MM events already and am confident about being able to take one MM event or other down! :thrasher:

But to be fair, I'm also playing 1.10-3.30 bounty builders and the suchlike too, I wouldn't say they're bad right now. A little bit gutted to have just finished 152/7,179 in a 2.20... Was 12k gtd (didn't check what it actually made it up to total but 1st will be tasty for someone LOL )
