I was sent an email (confirmed by same message on the Facebook site), that Poker Dominicano will change the name of their up-and-coming site (accepts US players, thank goodnes!) to FreedomPoker!

And that is not all; here are some quotes from the message:

Phase #1 Start Rebranding to Freedompoker.eu
Phase #2 Fresh new Look ( Theme changes and more)
Phase #3 Added New Features ( Live Straddle and more)

The Programming team will be working hard to get all the updates done in the next few weeks

Now, I think that last one was interesting. I do not know if anyone else has it, or how it could be initiated - but it is good they are thinking!

Now, keep in mind, with these changes comes some unhappy people. Some just do not like change and will just gripe on and on about it. But these guys seem to love the game as well as the game as a business, so I am hopeful it will prove to be a winner in the long run. When you look at all the trouble some sites have had lately, it is only good when a new one comes along or a small one tries to expand!

The nice thing is that I have seen some freeroll games there get canceled because of lacking only one or two players to hit the min number of players! That will not last long, so now might be a good time to check it even if you are not going to deposit anything!

The site is here;

And they also do bitcoins. Good options!

I have never come accross an online site which brought in a straddle for its cash games, it should be interesting to see how it is done. I know it would have to be an option so that you choose to straddle all of the time or turn it off and straddle none of the time, but obviously would only come into play in regards to a single straddle.

I played in live cash games where a straddle could be doubled and so forth, so could be in a 1/2 game, 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 40, 80.... straddles before any cards are on the move. Obviously this is a group of cash game players willing to gamble, and one always hopes to be fta after that 80 straddle and wake up with AA (but would want like a 400 - 500 stack to hopefully only be up against the 80$ straddler and not half the table).

But yes a straddle would make the case game very interesting, especially if they had tables which were a mandatory straddle only, perhaps that is how they would implement it and I think it would probably get some hot action.

Might be a sight to check out once they get these updates up and running.

Thanks for the Info.

It's a puzzler to me how to do it, except having a table(s) dedicated to it. When I see it done on TV they always seem to need to get everyone in on it before they will do it. With only that to go on, I can only think that is normally how it is done. I am not a cash player, at all live and very little online.

Still, very intriguing. Even to an MTT junky like me, lol.

I'm not sure where you saw that, everything I see if I google "does poker dominican accept us players" says that they do. I'm on there and in the US.

I will try to ascertain if the changes are going to affect that!

Seems like an interesting site, not sure how the software looks or anything. If they are programming in straddles that could be really interesting for cash games, but having never really heard of Poker Dominicano I'm a little hesitant of looking into it. Anything redeeming at the moment or do you think Freedom Poker will be worth waiting for?

Keep trying for the next few weeks or so, once they have switched over to .eu you should be able to join.

They are also under new ownership after the last owner about killed the site with his lack of PR on 2+2 forums. I think he was also going under because of his accepting prop players and some poor business decisions involving advertising on sites and a bitinstant freeze after sending a bunch to them.

I believe the straddle option was/is on intertops where a friend of mine played at. It was a clickable option on the table so you could choose to straddle this orbit and not the next.

Thanks, yes; after the re-launch, back to accepting US players.
