Lol - that is just too strange.

yeah. although i guess it's really cool for a MTT grinder as you can increase your volume significantly by multi-entering. But if you go deep with several entries, there must be some EV loss ICM-wise when two of your entries get merged.

Wow. That is an idea that I am not sure is good for the game of poker. But I guess it is like anything else... No one is forcing you to play.

On a side note, if you have any poker tracking software it would be a good way to record a lot more hands on your opponents. Imagine having an entry on the last two tables? I feel like that would be a HUGE advantage (other than the fact that you are that deep and represent over 10% of the remaining field).

Too early in the morning...hopefully that was coherent.

:hmmmm: :hmmmm: :hmmmm:

http://www.fulltiltpoker.com/multi-entry-tournaments

How it Works

Multi-Entry Tournaments allow you to register for the same tournament numerous times, meaning you can “multi-table” a single tournament!
Each of your entries in a Multi-Entry Tournament will have its own chip stack and be dealt its own hand. You can register multiple entries at the same time, or use additional entries as a “second chance” if your first entry is eliminated from the tournament in the early stages of play.
Your entries will always be seated at different tables, and if you have more entries than there are tables left in the tournament, two of your entries will be “merged” into one.

OK 1 thing i need some info on when it comes to merging.Say the final table is reached and they merge the 2 entries you had left. Now there are 8 people left. Did the entry that gets merged get 9th place money? I mean what if you were 1st and 2nd. I dont get that part of it. Im at work, so cant really read the link you posted but just curious as to knowing how that works out.

Imagine having an entry on the last two tables?

It's actually a bit of a nightmare in that you then need to run ICM computations in order to figure out if it's less -EV to voluntarily bust your shortest entry in 10th place to collect two payouts or take the EV hit of having your two entries get merged at the final table.

No, it just disappears and your stacks are added. But ICM-wise, the $ value of a single stack is less than the $ values of two smaller ones with the same total chip count.

Wow. I never though of it like that. Would the payout structure not need to be tweaked? If you represent 2 of 12, do they pay 12 spots? So when you are forced to merge you get paid the 10th place money? If not, then who does? :hmmmm:

Actually, it seems i misread and when you get merged in the money, you get the payout for the place you got merged at. If you also get your chip stacks merged, than it turns out to be very +EV. Weird...

It seems that would be the only way to do it for a tournament structured this way. Thanks for the info belgo!

I would love to try it, just to see. It would probably be fun at first but nothing I'd look to make money at...

Just remember folks, you only have 2 ankles so if you're running more than 2 entries you're going to have to start looking for other parts to stab.

Stay safe out there.

Its still -Ev I think.

However this is great if you get knocked out early from a really good EV tournament and u can register a 2nd time.
And its also great if u can get into the money or final table faster by other people merging.
Beeing shortstack vs a bunch of recless bigstacks can be very profitable as well.

I find daggers in the heart to be much more effective. I had to use several last night - built up great chip stacks in 5 tournaments and went out of 3 of them in massive pots when I got bad beats. It was sooo painful. I played so awesome and only min-cashed in one of the tournaments lol.

Well I just got done playing the first one on the schedule. It seems the play was very tight at all 4 tables I was on. And not getting any action until near the second break. When I got suckout on in all 4 tables. Even my Boat got beat, so I probably cant make an objective accessment of the game. But I plan on doing more research. LOL

My suggestion to this structure would be to remove the chips from play and just give the person an equity cut and deduct the rest from the prize pool.

From what I can figure (and I havn't played one yet but I will be later) they're trying to take the failed Matrix idea and resurrect it into MTT. Could be interesting....

I like the idea, but as someone suggested I think it should be 1 buy-in should give you multiple entries in this format.

I am playing the $2.20 that starts in about 45 min only going to buy in 2 times but lets see what happens. I like the idea. I cash in a good % of the turny I play so this will only add to the amount I get to play at once. I tend to go for deep stack and prefer to play bigger fields so more opportunity for me to play.
