I am absolutely appalled. I downloaded intertops last week to play in the CC freeroll that was canceled. I created an account and played a few freerolls to feel out the software.

Today I got home from work and started the software and it wouldn't log me in, saying my account had been locked. So I emailed support and feel compelled to share that conversation as the whole situation just feels really weird.

--MY FIRST EMAIL--

Username: palmerd2

I tried to get into the 7pm freeroll today and it says my account has
been locked. I reinstalled the software twice and tried the direct
login through the sportsbook.

Sincerely,

--
David R. Palmer

--THEIR RESPONSE--

Dear David,

Thank you for your e-mail.

We wish to inform you that your account did not pass our security checks therefore as a result, management has decided that your account will remain closed.

Thank you for your understanding and do have a good day!!

Sincerely,

Cynthia

--MY RESPONSE--

Hi Cynthia,

Thank you for your quick response. I do need some advice on how to proceed.

Would it be possible for me to create a new account using the same
handle, palmerd2? If so, please let me know when you have deleted my
locked account so I can create a new one using the same name. If not,
please let me know so I can attempt to create a new account using a
seperate email address. The reason why I am so concerned is because
CardsChat will be sponsoring a $500 freeroll at your site sometime in
the near future. As an active member at the forum, I find their
tournaments to be much more skill-based and rewarding to play than
most low-stakes tournaments.

Also, I am confused on how I did not pass security, as I did not
deposit nor withdraw. The only information you should have is my
permanent address and my username and password.

Sincerely,

David Palmer

--THEIR FINAL RESPONSE--

Dear David,

Thank you for your response.

Unfortunately our system will not allow you to create a new account.

Thank you for your understanding and do have a good evening.

Sincerely,

Cynthia

There must be a reason, I think they are part of the same network that Cake is a part of. In the past have you maybe had more than one account on Cake or a similar site?

Of course. That is what happened to me also. I have a Cake account. Not more than one. Still is somewhat weird to not be allowed to creat an acount on a different site of the same network.

You can have 1 account per site, I was thinking more along the lines of maybe 2 accounts on one site of that network. Apparently not if it is happening to you too, that is wierd.

Dissapointing to hear, hope you can resolve it in some manner, but seems unlikely.

There has to be an issue with your account or they would not have closed it. I am not sure why you thought they would then let you create a new one when your first one was closed - that makes zero sense on your part.

However - something I have never approved of is the reluctance of poker sites to reveal the specific reasons why they closed accounts when it is related to security. They all do it and have done it - pokerstars, Full Tilt - never have understood the need for the mystery.

I am really disappointed because I want to play in the exclusive $500.00 freeroll. What really sucks is that they won't let me create a new account using a different handle.

I have accounts at FT, Stars, bodog, Carbon, Doyles, and Pokerview and have never had an issue...

When they close accounts for security issues of course they will not let you create a new one.

You may be able to open a new account with a different username. I had issues and had to change my username on the different sites within the same skins. You also need to be careful of the email address you used. You will not be able to create a new account, even with a new username, using the same email address.
Good luck

I am sure i do not have more than one. I never heard about Intertops until cardschat post, and made an account on cake 2 weeks ago for the free 10 dollars from pokerstrategy . They did not locked my acount on cake though :D

Cake network does allow 1 account at each of their skins so that can'r be it. Maybe they associated his IP with someone else's that they had issues with

I am deleting my account and will try to set up a new one with a different handle and email address. Obviously I am never depositing on this site. Imagine if I had deposited and then been locked out of my account...

Possible reasons?

I live in US but Cake is US friendly...
I use wireless internet so no hardline IP...
I am 21 years old so no age problems...

Its really getting to me because their freerolls are actually pretty soft as well. It sucks so bad!

hmmm, when did u turn 21 ... maybe there is a mixup there or maybe on another skin u put different DOB

it's like a mine field playing online these days ... im enjoying just playing with freeroll dollars for now, but i would love for the dust to settle, so i could make a $100 deposit somewhere ... instead of trying to scratch my way ... $3 bucks on Carbon .... lookout world!!!

What Cake skins have you had accounts on? Are they in good standing?

If your email address or IP address can be linked to an account with security issues, this is par for the course on all poker rooms.

I have no accounts on Cake Poker besides this one, which I created about a week ago for the CardsChat exclusive freeroll.

I have an account on Cake, Intertops and Doyles when Doyles was on the Cake Network and never had any problems. Pity they can't give you a straight answer as to why they would lock your account:confused:

Same thing happened to me OP, i set up the account to play the freeroll, they sent me this email, to verify my account
>> Thank you for choosing Intertops!
>>
>> We wish to advise you that Intertops has installed a new security feature, which protects our customers and ensures the highest level of security.
>>
>> In order to verify your account, we kindly ask you to send us the following account verification documents:
>>
>> * Recent Utility Bill / Credit Card statement (confirming your Intertops account address) Not older than 3 months
>> * Valid Driver's License / Passport ID page
>>
>> You may scan or photograph the document(s) and send as an e-mail attachment to: support@intertopspoker.com
>>
>> Please note that we also require a valid telephone number for your account.
>>
>> We appreciate your understanding and look forward to hearing from you soon. If you have any further queries, please contact us and we will be happy to assist.

I didnt send any documents because i never have had to do this before to any other sites, i have never played on cake or intertops before, i tryed to log in to play the game and it says my account is locked.

i emailed them and asked hat was the problem, i got this response

Thank you for your e-mail.

Kindly note as advised in our previous correspondence, you will be required to provide us with your documents in order for us to verify and reactivated your account. Thank you for your understanding.

We await your response.

Sincerely

Jamal

Then i told them to shove there site where the sun dont shine and ill play somewhere else, i cant see them attracting new players if this is going on..

I have had to supply that information to multiple poker sites - and so have loads of others.

You shouldn't play anywhere if you are not willing to give them that information because if they don't request it up front you are likely to have to provide it when you want to withdraw.

Wow, thats just insane. I'm glad its not just me. These "new" security features are really going to hurt a lot of new players if they lock your account unless you give them your credit card statement...

Some sites may have been lax about this is in the past and are now toughening up, but this stuff has been very standard for years now.

Wow on some of the things mentioned here. My intertops account was just started because of the freeroll here. I have been on cake for close to 2 years so maybe that's why I didn't have to jump thru any hoops to open the account on intertops.

When I opened on Cake ... I had to do the send docs things. That was via a free 50 dollar roll so I attributed that inconvenience to that. Just my 2 cents worth.
