I first joined ClubWPT in January for a free two week trial which I then cancelled through support the same day as their software froze on me in the middle of an all in hand on my pair of aces - i could still see the flop fold out which i did win but because the software sat me out it eliminated me from the tourney so that really pee"d me off so I cancelled the free trial quickly.

I then looked around for other membership sites and found Club bluff so after joining them for a while I thought I'd go back and have another look at Wpt , so I was able to log back in under the username I had created during my free trial and there on my account I could see I was still a paying member with current billing dates so I contacted costumer support and they explained to me that Clubb Bluff and Wpt were connected platforms and by being a paid member of Club Bluff my membership included them but I was reasured I not being billed twice for it.

So come April/May I decided to cancel with Club Bluff which I did sucessfully with a conformation email and thought no more of it till the other day I recieved an email from WPT about their big tourney they were having so I logged back on planning to rejoin for this tourney to find I had been billed for the last 3 months so I contacted support to tell then I had cancelled with Club Bluff 3 months ago and had assumed this would have cancelled me with them too.Support then told me they had no record of me cancelling with WPT so it was to bad so sad as scum sites are, I was obviously not going to be compensated and I would been happy with 3 months free membership so I made sure that this time they did cancel me. Not a one for been cluey on the spot but it did hit me that night that no wonder they had no record of me cancelling my membership because I never paid my membership through them in the first place I was paying through Club Bluff not them so they did not have my permission to bill me only Club Bluff did and as I mentioned earlier I had contacted support back in January to have my trial membership cancelled which they did at the time but they didn;t have that on record so what the hell would they know. I am sure that if this has happened to me then this is happening to possibly hundreds of other players too and luckily for me I;m only out of pocket $60-$80 but the what upsets me the most is that had they not sent me that email about the tourney and I had not logged back in I would have been billed for the rest of my life with out knowing it and lost thousands so I swear to god that site has not heard the last of me I am going to make it so no one can google that site with out seeing WPT SCAM NEXT TO IT! As it happens Club Bluff is no longer around but there is another connected site called PlayuWin or something like that so the same thing can happen with their members if they use both platforms.

Curious here but.. why does one join something like Club Bluff instead of just joining up to one of the popular online poker sites. What's the advantage to joining 'Club Bluff'? (I mean in the first place... not after the fact)

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. i think joining a online poker site is way better than joining one where you pay a monthly fee. Oh well, we all have our preferences.

I actually joined ClubWPT a couple of years ago for their free 2 weeks trial, because they had a tournament on there where the winner gets a trip to Vegas to play on TV (As I posted when I played this tournament back in 2008, I ended up taking 3rd out of 1369 people, being KO'd by a 2 outter on the river, right at the end of my 2 week trial period). After that, I canceled my account and have never played there again, never having to pay the monthly fee. I joined up to try and win that free trip.

This proves that all them crappy small poker sites are rubbish!

Who wants to pay a monthly fee to just play poker on a site???

Stick to the big name sites people and stay away from them crappy small sites which ur jus going to get trouble with.

I think that the thread title is extremely misleading and needs to be changed. There is no evidence that I can find that ClubWPT owes any money to anybody. People who sign up for something with monthly charges are responsible for ensuring that they have read all the small print, and know exactly what they are signing up for. If people don't check their bank statements then they only have themselves to blame.

Umm... I disagree. So you go & check your bank statement & they've taken a payment out (or have dinged your credit card)... it's already too late. I've had this happen a couple times in the past, I filled out what was required to discontinue a service &/or membership & got dinged for it anyways.

Sure perhaps the title of thread could be changed. It does get one's attention though & perhaps OP wants on make sure others don't have the same troubles there that they had.

Unfortunately most things I have found that you sign up for a free trial, then have to cancel to not be billed, are not worth it.
fwiw, I don't agree with the title either, no one knows for a fact if they really owe hundreds of people thousands.

This could be easily remedied by contacting you CC company and disputing the charges. They will almost always (99.99%) side with you and credit your account and charge the merchant.

thousands of people signed up (or bought)
something online without realizing they had actually
sold ther souls
cant remember what it was, i think the site
done it as a joke
to make people more aware
be carefull what you sign up for
especially if you believe you have a soul (lol)

I can understand getting charge that first time after you canceled, but how do they charge you 3 times and you still don't notice? You also said if not for the e-mail about the tourney you would be charged the rest of your life. Does that mean you never look at your cc statement. Surely that is your problem not theirs.

For the question of why people would join a paid subscription site is because there are no entry fees. You pay your monthly fee and thats it. So it's kinda like budgeting your poker play because you can never spend more than that fee.

Sounds more like paying for freerolls to me.

The best thing about this thread is OP`s user name. It is a fine idea to be under a girl, imo. :D

I'm not buying it. To be under a girl could be disastrous. Depends on the girl of course, just like if you've got AK, how do you play it?? If your opponent is a girl, then the answer is once again, depends on the girl.

Yeah id also like to see proof of club wpt owing anybody anything before making a harsh accusation like this. Id definitely use ftp or poker stars over club wpt tho. Sucks you got charged too much though.
