I tend to air on the side of caution against them as well. But now I have learned the true meaning of implied odds. If some donky raises 4 times the bb and I have a drawing hand I will call because for the 1 in 9 times I hit, he will completely stack off. Offering me great odds.

This is true.

Do you use any form of bankroll management? If not you should look into that, as I think you said your playing 10nl with $100 BR, which gives you a greater chance of going broke due to variance. Even the best player in the world will go broke without some form of BRM.

When you play vs donkeys make sure you play good hands, don't bluff them(except for Cbets), and value bet them like crazy. At micro stakes you pretty much just need to play ABC poker. DO NOT over value your high PP's/TPTK's and such, remember that a pair is just one hand ranking higher than A high. Make sure you are not giving them correct odds to draw out on you also, and make sure you are not chasing improper odds. If you use proper BRM and get your money in good than you should be fine.

I used to think the same thing you did, I couldn't understand why the "donks" were always beating me. Now I love paying vs donks as they are where most of my profits come from! I swore I was a great poker player and there wasn't anything wrong with my play(but I was wrong). Isn't it 90% of payers think they are way better players than they actually are or something like that? By you saying "I am a good player" but not posting any HH or your username/site or graph from PT3/HEM leads us to believe there is something fishy here(pun intended), and there is no way to evaluate your play and help you with any mistakes you might be making if there is no way to spot them. No offense but someone who says they are a good player, but can't beat the donks is probably not as good of a player as they think. Try to be more open minded and make sure you review your sessions and look into investing into PT3/HEM if you don't already have it, and post some HH's into the HH section to get some outside advice on your play. People also have study groups and sweat sessions here on CC which can be a great tool to help your game. Reading through some of the posts in the Golden Archives is also a wonderful idea.

Please don't think I am calling you a bad player or anything, because that is not my intention. You could be a great player and maybe just going through a swing of bad variance also, but again without a graph or any stats there is no way to determine this.

If you can't beat the donks than who do you expect to beat?

Well I have learnt a lot already and I believe me I don't overvalue top pair top kicker but when You have Ace King and you raise it up to 5 times the bb and you get a caller and an A or a K hits, you're going to have to wonder what the other player has. It is hard to get away from that hand. But im learning.

I said I was a good player, what I meant was that I'm not a donky. I have played for a couple of years and am a break even player online. I do a lot better in B&M Casino's. Probably due to the number of blackjack/roulette players sitting down. But anyway I can't be bothered at this point to post HH :p Im sure I will when I get more involved in the community and I have some HH worth posting. Thanks for your advice. I am doing better already.

Theres no secret formula for beating a donk. They do a lot of pushing and praying and when they do you pretty much just have to do the same. Anyway Aldito gave some really good advice and there are some great players here. Good luck with your game and welcome to the forum.

Pretty much what I woulda said!!!

Most of the time after a big raise and the flop come and you shove they will fold and calm down a little bit, but sometime it back-fire, so play it the way you feel it.

i know i will be stating well known info, but hey i'm new to the site and bored at work!!!!

play small pots with poor or crazy players

dont bluff them or if u do wait till the river and maybe throw out a small value bet ... low risk and the donkey might just go ... oh man he's milking me for a few chips and fold 2nd pair

trap

be careful deciding to put your last chips in against a crazy river bet from a poor player ... if your a good player ... u can always double up and come back ... you cant lose until that last chip goes into the pot

wait for them to make a mistake b/c they will and if you are in a position to take advantage of it ... then that's when you realize that you should like bad players at your table ... even if it is annoying at times

If I had a dollar for every time I came up against running straights flushes and 2 pair, Id be broke. Because I lose more money playing these ridiculous pots that I would if I got a dollar every time they happened!! I hate how seemingly unlucky I am.
