The new may have worn off for Chris Moneymaker, the 2003 World Series of Poker Champion, but the surge of internet poker sites after that monumental event still hasn’t waned. Moneymaker has been credited with putting online poker sites and PokerStars on the map because of the growth they both achieved after his major win.

After all, Moneymaker only plunked down $40 to win a seat at the WSOP and once he won the championship that told the rest of us ordinary Joes that if he could do it we could too.

It’s not just visions of money and fame that make playing poker on the internet special. It’s something we can do after a hard day’s work in our pajamas if we want to. It’s something to look forward to and you don’t have to spend big bucks to play.
