A supporter of the tour since it started back in 2015, Dwan will now act as an official ambassador. Although Triton’s announcement doesn’t go into specifics, the legendary online figure will fly the flag at all forthcoming events.

Dwan to Ante Up in Montenegro

Dwan’s first outing will be at the Triton Poker Series in Montenegro from May 5 to May 17. As well as a new pro wearing its merchandise, Triton founder Richard Yong wants Montenegro to become the tour’s biggest event to date.

Since Triton began showing coverage of its high stakes cash games on Twitch and YouTube, interest in the brand has surged. By featuring the game’s top talent, multiple million-dollar-pots have taken railbirds back to the days of Full Tilt’s nosebleed games.

By working with Dwan, Triton Poker is speaking to this nostalgia fans have for the golden age of online gaming.

“When I began my journey as a poker player Tom was already crushing the biggest games in the world. When the poker action started booming in Asia Tom was one of the first to dive into the action. He’s one of the most exciting players to watch, and play against, and I can’t think of a better addition to the Triton roster,” said fellow Triton ambassador Jason Koon.

In tandem with Dwan and Koon, Triton partnered with Partypoker this year. The arrangement starts in May and will see the two parties host 10 high rollers, including the $123,000 main event.

Triton Poker Surging

Beyond the ability to provide more value, Triton and Partypoker will up their streaming games. With previous Triton Poker Series content receiving thousands of views, the partnership will give fans the ability to see more from the richest games in the world.

For Dwan, the move will be a chance to get his name back in the spotlight. Despite being something of a reluctant star, the legend of Durrrr is an enduring one.

After retreating to Asia and laying low after the ill-fated Durrrr Challenge, Dwan has gradually returned to the fray.

A brief appearance alongside Phil Ivey to explain Six Plus Hold’em surfaced in 2018. Since then, it’s like the American pro never went away.

As well as his familiar nonchalant demeanor, Dwan has been at the heart of Triton Poker’s biggest pots. The biggest talking point so far was the $2.35 million hand he played against Paul Phua (see video above).

After a series of pre-flop raises, Dwan thought A♠ Q♥ was enough to call the aggressive Phua. Unfortunately, when his opponent tabled aces, the equally aggressive pro was on the wrong end of a seven-figure loss.

As the new Triton Poker ambassador, Dwan will be more active than ever, which means fans can look forward to even more high stakes action in the coming months.
