Michael Addamo Wins €25K WSOP Europe High Roller, Second Bracelet of Year

Michael Addamo beat a tough 133-player field in the WSOP Europe €25,500 Super High Roller Series 25K to win €848,702. He now has won two bracelets this year with just two events remaining.

The bracelet winner moved up six spots on Australia’s all-time tournament money list into ninth place. With over $3 million in earnings, he still has a ways to go to catch the leader, 2005 WSOP Main Event champion Joe Hachem ($12.3 million), but he’s almost a quarter of the way there.

Though Addamo may never catch Hachem, a poker icon in Australia, he’s certainly making his home country proud. This past summer, he shipped his first WSOP bracelet in the $2,620 Marathon, a deep stack no-limit hold’em event, for $653,581.

Tough Event, Well-Deserved Victory

The €25k high roller in Rozvadov, Czech Republic wasn’t as lengthy or grueling as the Marathon. But the competition was a difficult as you’ll find.

Many of the top players in the world arrived at King’s Casino for this one, the eighth WSOP Europe event. Anthony Zinno, Chris Ferguson, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Kristen Bicknell, and WSOP Main Event champ John Cynn all signed up but failed to advance past Day One.

But some other great poker players made it to Thursday’s Day Two session and cashed. That includes Sylvain Loosli (18th), Rainer Kempe (13th), Dominik Nitsche (5th), Mikita Badziakouski (4th), and Benjamin Pollak (3rd).

The final table was stacked with superstars across the board. Nitsche is one of the top young Germans, Badziakouski has been crushing high rollers this past year, and Pollak has made the WSOP Main Event final table the past two years.

But none of those skilled pros were able to outlast Michael Addamo. He bagged the biggest stack on Day One and never fell back to the pack.

Big Money Closeout

The 2018 WSOP Europe series will conclude after the Main Event, which begins on Saturday. But before that tournament starts, a couple of other high roller events have taken place or are currently underway.

On Thursday night, King’s Casino hosted a €500/€1,000 cash game that attracted some of the most exciting players in the world. Tony G, “Aussie” Matt Kirk, John Cynn, and Bobby Baldwin were among the stars seated at the table.

(Kirk’s lawsuit with King’s Casino owner Leon Tsoukernik was recently dismissed upon being settled out of court for undisclosed terms.)

Other high-stakes gamblers arrived at the casino on Friday morning to compete in Event #9, €100,000 King’s Super High Roller. The prize pool was already over $4 million before the session concluded. Players such as Alex Foxen, Adrian Mateos, Dominik Nitsche, and Fedor Holz got in the action.
