Hi all!

It's my 21st birthday in July and I am going to vegas in October to celebrate!

I'm wanting some advice on the best poker games about. I am staying in the Bellagio... has anyone stayed or played poker there?

I'm mainly a tournament player really, not too fond of cash games.....

Any advice or tips would be really appreciated!

All the best

Finding the right one:
There are tournaments running 24/7 there. There is a magazine found in all the vegas poker rooms that lists all the daily tournaments: game, buy-in, freezeout or rebuy, start time, etc. That will be the most up to date.

Try searching for it.
Las Vegas Poker Tournament Schedule Daily Tournaments List Listing

Playing in them:
They are not much different than on-line as far as sharks and fish. I play alot live so it is easy for me to spot the internet only vagas experience players. Just play your game.

New to live poker read this:

I hear the author has an amazing poker mind:D

All I can tell you is I was there in December and the only game anyone wants to play is Texas Hold'em, ring games, tournaments, fixed and no limit. If you want to play seven card stud call Sam's Town. That was the only place I found that had the game. Be advised that you'll probably be playing againist many locals who play everyday. My advice, play very tight.

I recommend the Venetian of Strip play, and Binions for downtown. Here is my last vegas report. Also, I highly advise you to stay away from some of the cheaper tournaments around town, as the structure can be just awful. Here are some recommendations. Also see the Bishop's reviews here.
Also, here is another room review site (although I think allvegaspoker, above, is a bit better).

There are two levels of play in vegas. The player and the vacationer. You have players there to make money and vacationers who want to gamble for the experience. You just have to catagorized them and be careful around the players and take advantage of the vacationers.

I played 4/8 limit at the Wynn late at night and got an outragous amount of river calls with the player saying "I call because I want to see what you have this time" or "I know you have me but I want to see what you have".
I bought in for $160 and walked out with over $500 both nights.

I did a 24 hr poker run and played at almost every place on the strip in that 24 hrs. I kept a $1 chips from each place and bought a poster of the strip. I then framed the poster with all the chips placed next to the casinos. Do this if you plan on playing at a lot of different places. That way you have a great way to remember the trip.

Vegas musts: wall of fame @ Binions and the rides on top of the Stratosphere (late at night so the strip is lit up like Xmas).

Bellagio is where the pros play. I hear that you will see people like Harman, Deeb, The Mouth, Kid Poker, all the big cash players. I don't think they do tournaments that are under 10,000 but thats not to say that other good players don't do the Bellagio. They go where the real money is. If you just want to play, but don't want to be dead money, chek out the Statisphere, I have only played 2 live tournies, first I made a nervious call first hand and went home, then my tournie in vegas, 55+5 started at about midnight and I went almost to the final table. When I got busted the board said 12 players, but I think there was one guy knocked out b4 me so I think I made 11 out of about 60. Not bad, not great, but 3 and a half hours of comp drinks and alot of good natured poker fun. No one is trying to kill anyone and the winner still got about 2k.
