Is it better in these re-buy tournaments to play a TAG style or play extremely loose. The problem I'm having is that I will 3x-6x raise with say AA and then I get 5 callers and they are all playing hands like Q2o or 93suited.. I guess what I am asking is how to beat these people that push all-in with any cards that have a number, letter, or a shape on them.. They all seem to get lucky and hit the flop like its going out of style.. sorry. rant over.. lol
The trick here is to get smart with playing the flop. Aggressive-fish will look at any two cards and go, sure, why not. They see a King and think: that's a high card! Lez-go. Play tight and do the following.
Know that in the beginning, someone is going to be looking for an early tournament all-in. Play very conservatively pre-flop until that person busts (won't be long). Likewise, a lot of people expect someone to do that. If you happen to pop AA or KK early on, go all in. Most people will fold but someone will call you and double you up early.
Know that there will be a couple of players that love to see the river. They assume anyone's hand is best until then (technically they're right, but statistically they're wrong). They don't really get "pot control" though, so if you want to see a river, check to it. If you have a hand likely to win, build that pot! But understand that
bluffing these guys is a HUGE mistake.
Play loose on the river. This is where they realize that they don't have the hand they want. If you have something with any sort of show down value, balls to the wall. Just be wary of a check raise on the river. Fish don't know how to do that (even though its poker 101). It's pretty much never a
bluff. Even re-raises are pretty suspect. But most of the time any substantial bet on the river will induce a fold.
The people left will inevitably be you and the tight players. Usually those tight players are fairly passive. So beat em up. At the end of the day, it'll be you and the other guy who knows half a thing about poker going heads up.
