I played a for around a year in the early 2000s when the big
online poker boom was happening. I agree that the chat could sometimes be good. Just come back to playing recently.
Would sometimes play on a site called
Ladbrokes, which is also a big UK bookmakers/sportsbook/betting company. People were talking about lots of things, all kinds of random topics although about half the time it was talking about our thoughts on the upcoming sports betting opportunities and what we'd gambled on. It's what the player base was interested in.
Pokerstars instead added items that you can throw in different situations, I think this replaced the chat function, it’s easier anyway
Plus, many people play from their phones (like me), and I personally don’t see how to write to chat from a phone
Yep, thowables have replaced a lot of the chat. I think I used one once to throw a coffee cup at a player called coffeelover when he won a big pot that I wasn't even involved in just for a bit of fun. He lol'ed and said thank you, was a wholesome moment.
Don't really see the point or appeal in them, although I do think it's quite fun when someone throws a tissue one, or garbage can at me when they played the hand badly and got fortunate. I wonder what's going through their mind. Do they think they played well? I just hope they continue to play like that with a smile on my face.
I had that happen today actually. Never really throw them myself.
