I would'nt recommend it , the first time I was involved with one of those hands I had aces and the other guy had Jack's, he decided to play it safe and ended up walking away with 15% of the pot after he cracked my aces.

Cash out costs you $$ every time you use it and you should understand this. You must understand that the sites take a small % of the total and this often adds up to 10s of BB so you're just destroying your win rate. Be bankrolled and learn to not care. That said, I sometimes cash out especially if I have lost a few big pots when I was a favourite. I cash out primarily to avoid beinh tilted but I should learn to not cash out.

I often use cash out feature on pokerstars, this is good for me because it reduces the amount of times I go on deranged, monkey tilt. I do not have good temperament for poker, so reducing variance makes sense for me.

I think that you need to develop a strategy - and always stick to it, and take into account that the commission is taken

It's worth considering if you happen to find yourself in a 60-40ish spot.

How about a mix? I'm sure even professional players have bad days where it might be worth taking safety. And by that I mean mostly days where you might not be as motivated and more prone to making mistakes because nobody is perfect and on those days it might be worth it.

I prefer not to withdraw if it is not urgent, since it would be destroying my bank

Dear, CC

I was recently playing NL Hold'em cash games and was getting in my money good with some great draws (Flush plus open ended/gutshot straight draws, top 2 overcards over openended straight draws etc.) and I noticed that Pokerstars (where I play the most) offer the cash out option.
So my question to you is, would a professional profitable player should always option in for cashing out before the turn and a river or just a river?
I am really curious to see what you guys think!

Don't listen to them, listen to me instead....if you feel you want to cash out, then cashing out is always the correct decision.

Doesn't matter what other people say 'they' would do, most of them will be lying!

I cashout 99% of hands. I don't cashout the same pocket pair (eg JJ vs JJ) and I don't cashout unsuited AK vs AK or similar.
Since I started doing this I have never tilted. And a losing session is because I made mistakes. This I learn from, and it's easier for me to see.
FYI I also cashout when behind (e.g. KK vs AA).

I take my hat off to someone who can lose AA vs KK several times in a row and shrug it off. But I do question whether even the most hard-headed person can truly play their A-Game, after getting sucked out on - especially multiple times in a row.

1% is nothing to me. Rake is so much lower online than in casinos anyway.
Personally my game will suffer more than 1% if I had to deal with all the suck-outs.
If I was a robot millionaire playing 1c/2c I wouldn't cash out.

I also like the fact that I can route for the opponent to win the pot.
If a fish is going to either double or leave the table, when they win the pot I can still cover (or close to cover) their stack most times. And this makes the effective stack higher for our next all-in spot together.

of course you should always withdraw money because your bank account is safer than a poker account

because money in a poker account can be lost quickly - the human factor and temptation, etc

Anyone who intends to be a professional poker player should be prepared in advance for truly difficult times in their career, so as not to undermine their mental and financial health, and as a result, their entire life.Over the years and decades of your playing, you will get into many big downswings, for which you will lose tons of money. If you give up on the tenth big down on a third of your bankroll, then professional poker is not for you. Many regulars tend to give up and go into long periods of mental “overcharge” when things don’t go well for them, losing precious $/hour. Some people stop playing poker altogether for an indefinite period until they become eager to continue playing, remembering all the hardships of poker reality.

I don't play cash games to tell you that, and this option of withdrawing before the river is new to me because I didn't know, but I thought it was an interesting idea.

Not a pro player but I am a 20+ year winning player. Never take the cash out option and I even have it disabled. I also never run it twice again disabled.

My reasoning for both I have a real bankroll, know how to manage, have the willpower to manage my bankroll and I'm prepared to accept the variance. Also never had to deposit in 15+ years so yeah. I never take the cash out option and never run it twice.

I'm use to getting the chips and money in head majority of the time. Why would I be stupid enough to pay a site to cash me out when my mostly +EV and a huge favorite most hands. Doesn't make sense to me.

Cheers!!!

I don't see the point unless one of these is true:

1. The variance will hurt the player monetarily, perhaps because they're playing at a level they can't really afford to lose, or are taking a shot at higher level while not being fully bankrolled. Nothing too wrong with it when shot taking I suppose.

2. The player realises they can react poorly to suckouts in which case it could be good for their mental game. Might be better for them to cash out instead of going on tilt.

Otherwise it's just giving up a small percentage of EV time after and time and it's not worth it.

Sometimes I don't understand people when they do this. I've seen all-ins with low pocket pairs from 22-44 using it when faced with 2 overcards. They're in a coinflip which is best they could really have hoped for. It's much better than them being up against a big pocket pair, and they still use this option. Why? Just fold pre-flop and you'll have the same amount pretty much, if not more due to rake.

Or other times tiny stacks keep going all in and are using it, like they just want to stay at the table without topping up their chips. I don't really understand that either. Maybe they truly can't afford another buy in?

I think you should not withdraw funds, that is, use insurance if you are going ahead, it's better to win a larger amount at once than you are afraid of losing, professional players don't do it because you can assume that you are almost victorious, you will just find that you will win and that's it
