Many people are against using a phone at the table during a game for various reasons. I'm also against it. When I sit down to play, I try to minimize factors that could influence my decisions.

For me it ok to have a phone at the table, I don't mind it unless it is disturbing the gameplay. But if you play when it's your turn I'm fine with everyone having a phone on them. ( On silent of course :ROFLMAO: )

<3 I love this question Donna, I actually do not own a cell phone. I kind of hate them. I was raised without phones and having one attached to me is a sweet hell I do not want to live with. Bring back the land line people, walk out the door and just enjoy your day. DO not tell me you need it lol It is a want. A want that confuses me and steals your moments...but I digress <3

I could see me being very upset at this if I played live <3 and I would think it is not a great idea BUT how do you stop people from using them this is an out of control addiction. <3 but I do not play live so I feel like I am standing on a soap box and I should shut up :p lol

I don't like phones at the table,...
I don't like people eating at the table either , or drunks lol, take a phone or dinner break and go do that stuff elsewhere and let people who came to play poker be. I honestly hate playing live because people are fricking annoying and slowwwww, meh maybe the internet spoiled me 😅👍

Communication device's of any kind should not be allowed on a Poker table, Yes I have had to use mine every week as Tournament Director to time the blinds, so it was necessary but I had the sound of call alerts changed to silent as I did not want to mistake a call alarm from the timer alarm.
I never accepted calls or read text messages on it while playing myself, and in a Casino game it was turned off completely, only turning it back on during the breaks to phone the Wife if I needed to.

I don't like that cell phones and other electrical device's can be used at the poker table.

Due to issues with collusion and RTAs in poker that some may exploit.

Sadly I don't think devices at the poker table will change.

Beacuse even at the wsop players are playing in braclet events in person and playing in bracelet events online at the same time.

To many series overlap or are running at the same time live and online.

I really don't think taking away someone's phone is going to stop collusion, that type of cheating was going on long before cell phones were invented.
After all as the saying go's "Where there is a will there is a way" I do however think that if someone is distracted and thus interrupting the flow of the game then this should not be allowed as well. So my rule would be that the players can keep their phones but only be allowed to access them during breaks or stoppages in play.

It's so annoying when you're at a live game and someone has to be constantly reminded action is on them because they have their nose stuck in their phone. Besides the fact that cheaters could use that to their advantage (collusion comes to mind) do you think there should be a uniform rule about when you can be on your phone at the table and if yes, what rule would yours be?
I've been watching major poker events on YouTube, and at least at the TV table the use of cell phones is prohibited, I don't know how to use cell phones at other tables in the room.

In my opinion, this should be prohibited, while the player is at the table, in addition to disrupting the gameplay with distractions, it would bring more transparency and credibility to the event.

Myself i have not been to a casino for awhile like March of 2020 but i really didn't think they were allowed at the tables or any electronic device for that matter, anyway in my opinion they shouldn't be allowed or used at the tables.

i dont think its such a problem , and to use mobile for collusion or cheating with programs or whatever ?? hmm i guess there are worse ways to be cheated , and worse things at the table to get you angry , mobile phone i would say its one of them or at least not the worse one , not sth to take action against it

I don't care if you play when it's your turn, put your blinds, etc. I'll be mad if you slow play because of your cell phone...

I don't own a cell phone so if you are allowed to use one I want a place to plug in my land line. Fair is fair. I would also use my rotary phone as my card protector.

I can only agree that phones are disturbing at the tables and should be kept in pockets.

I don't think cell phones should be allowed at the table at all, unfortunately people can use them as cheating devices and like it was mentioned before, people can get very distracted by them and therefore disrupt the game play.

"I can see how this negatively affects the social aspect of a game. I think there should be a 30:second shit clock in games so that play is not dragged out. This would I think alleviate slow play, it would also give players less time to look at their phones, tablets etc. Poker as a game was invented before the advent of mobile devices so this has not been allowed for in the modern running of live games. Before this happens poker was a more social game I believe."

A 30 second shit clock that's a bit harsh.😣

Poker etiquette means no mobile phone at the table. Otherwise, you may be accused of receiving information from outside and removed from the table. Don't take your phone with you, focus on the game.

Under no circumstances should you use smartphones during an in-person tournament, and the reasons are as varied as possible:

- The use of smartphones in the middle of an in-person tournament can open up opportunities for cheaters.

- If you are in an in-person tournament, be committed to it, let your family and friends know that during this period you will not be you will be able to respond to messages or answer phone calls.
For this reason, the player must turn off his device at this moment.

- The break period exists precisely so that the player can go to the bathroom, eat or even use their smartphone.

- In the middle of an in-person tournament, the player has the option of absenting himself, so if necessary, he can use this moment to do so.

- The smartphone is not part of face-to-face poker, and any advantage the player obtains from it can and should be considered illegal.

These are just some of the many reasons I believe a smartphone should not be used in in the middle of in-person tournaments.

It's so weird for me that using mobile phone during a poker game is allowed.
This should have been prohibited a long time ago.
Who knows what that person is doing on it, it's unfair to other players.

My rule would be very simple, during the game: no use of the telephone.

It does not bother me, i have my music on my phone, so it comes to the table with me. I also use my phone to pay my bills, somebody above suggested to lock them away in a box outside the poker room, such a thing would probably cause carnage in my local, considering all the personal information stored on phones these days, locking them away out of site in a box would be a big no no for 99% of people.

I have played in a poker house that has rules regarding the use of cell phones, and others that do not have rules but there is a guideline regarding the use of cell phones imposing limits and restrictions, in my opinion the use of cell phones should be prohibited, there is also a ban on smoking when sitting and playing
