How much does being a poker dealer help your game?

As far as you heard the pay is not good..... That all depends on where you work, in the United States it is one if the highest unskilled paid jobs (considering the alternatives) because while the base pay may be low, the tips are in general quite good. When I inquired about it out of curiousity a few years ago, people were talking 60K+ USDollars. I do not know where pay has gone since.

As far as improving your game, I would think it would---but over many years of observations, it seems (just in general--not always) that dealers are the worst players. I always salivate when I hear dealers play a game. Of course, there are many dealers who are excellent players as well.

And that is the general stereotype, that dealers are overly aggressive players. Out of the 50 some odd dealers at my casino, there may be actually 2-3 winning players. You have to understand that most dealers are not really taking the game seriously when they are playing, just having fun on the other side of the table.

I work with dealers that play all sorts of ways - from nits to maniacs. I've seen enough maniac dealers to know there's at least some grain of truth to the stereotype though.
