Different rules at different casinos.

This is true. While they may differ in how they handle the situation though, I don't think there are any serious casinos that will allow a player to show their cards to one person at the table and not everyone else. So whatever casino you're in, you should never show your cards to another player unless you're prepared to show them to the entire table.

My question is: What on Earth compelled you to show your cards to another player at the table in the first place?
I was wondering the same thing.

Show one show all is a standard rule in the States. Not sure about overseas, but if you show one person your hole cards in a live game, the rule is the dealer should show the rest of the table. I would be happy for that guy to be my dealer b/c at least he knows the rules and enforces them. It sucks when you get a dealer who doesn't know what he/she is doing and messes up chip counts, rules etc

FWIW "the dealer should show the rest of the table" is not a standard rule, or at least it's not automatic that they're shown. In a lot of places, the dealer will only show the cards if another player that was in the hand requests it. If nobody says anything the cards will get mucked like any other hand.

This is a pretty standard rule and I would be surprised if a dealer did not show the cards.

And here we are, still both patiently waiting....:bebored:
Since you were waiting, I decided not to close the thread. But, bleh, I can't take one more "dude, standard!" response. :p
