I think when I was in Vegas (or maybe it was somewhere else) a guy was telling me about a high rollers game in China? where the game was notorious for slow rolling and tilting people. Apparently one hand a guy went all in, a guy tanks for a few minutes, gets up, goes to the bathroom, comes back and eventually calls.... with the nuts hahah

Slowrolling should be used in friendly games where buddies can enjoy messing with one another.

I never do...and there's a special place in hell reserved for the people who do that I think.

I hardly ever slowroll with AA or KK because everytime I do it seems like I run into some kind of suck out. But many times it happens anyway if I go all in from any position or make a sizable raise. It just don't matter because some players play crap and win with it. Many hands I don't play come to the board and I would be just like them if I played them lol.

There's no reason to slowwroll, live or online. It's such a douchebag move. I mean, the cards won't change, you are just wasting time and crushing other people's feelings.

Right,

If we are talking about slowplaying a hand then yes I often slowplay hands!
As with everything it's situational, how strong is your nutish hand how many villains in what do you have then ranged on and where is your relative position vs those ranges.

This. Is. Not. A. Slowroll.

Please read through the thread folks. Several of us have defined the terms.

Blatantly obvious example of slowplaying: You have AA in the big blind. The button raises. You call. Let's say the flop comes AAx. You check, the villain bets, you call. You check the turn, the villain bets again, you call again, and so on.

I hardly ever slowroll with AA or KK because everytime I do it seems like I run into some kind of suck out.

Let's continue the slowplaying example that I gave earlier: say for instance you check the river on the above hand with AA, the board looks like :ac4::as4::7h4::4s4::qs4:, and the button jams the river. No straight flush is possible, and you beat every other possible holding. Instead of snap-calling like you should, you sigh, groan, check your cards, stare down the villain, glare at the dealer, masturbate your chips, and all the other things people do when they're tanking, or if you're online you purposefully wait until the last possible second to call...now you're slowrolling.

That is just ridiculous, you could use your time when you are in a big hand and want to induce the other to do something, but preflop holding AA just to CALL? Thats plain stupid and dickish move

First of all, it's never okay to slowroll. Ever. Slowrolling is a total dick move and one of the cardinal rules in poker etiquette. Do this live at the wrong table and you're likely to leave the casino minus some teeth.

That said, I don't think you understand what slowroll means. Since you state your intention is pretty much the same as a slowroller (i.e. to be a major dick) then it's probably moot, but technically a slowroll can only happen when you're closing the action with the absolute nuts, e.g. you're last to act on the river or facing a shove, and your hand can't possibly be beaten.

In any other scenario, you can't technically slowroll, including preflop with AA. There are actually certain tournament scenarios where tanking or even folding AA preflop is advisable. In a cash game or a routine tournament scenario, some may consider tanking with AA preflop a form of slowrolling, especially if done only to tilt your opponent. However AA can always be beaten so it's not technically slowrolling.

Slowplaying is not slowrolling. The former is an acceptable and often strategic play, while the latter is never justified.

Regardless, intent is the important factor, and your expressed intent seem to be to the same as a slowroller, so I would strongly advise you to stop it.
Playful believes this comments are the same way I feel aboot slowrolling and slowplaying ina nutshell. Sometimes if they are too slow out come the nasty comments:canabis:

What makes you automatically assume that the guy who got slowrolled is even capable of knocking someone's teeth out? Let me guess - It's because he's "maaaadddddd rawwwwr!!!!", right?

I'll slowroll when I want to and when someone like you stands up and threatens, of all things, my teeth ...I'll invite you out on the strip where you can swing away to your heart's content.

It's not illegal for me to slowroll some idiot online or in a casino. If he doesn't like it, he can always go play golf or craps or ...whatever.

I would respond to this but since you've gone and gotten yourself banned for other idiotic posts, guess there's no point...

Glad to see that that guy was banned. He was rude to me on one of my posts insulting a great Canadian city. I was trying to figure out if there was a way to ignore specific person's chats on this forum like there is on some other forums.

With that kind of mentality nobody would expect any different , right?

Guess it's the attitude of the "Of course i will slowroll any chance i get" kind of people.

Yeah, he was a troll. Also you can ignore other members by clicking on their username and then selecting to add them to your ignore list.

I personally never slowroll, live or online. IMO, anyone who does is an asshole. There is no need for it. It is comparable to someone who opens their car window and laughs at someone with a flat tire as they drive by.

slow rolling on purpose just means you deserve to get crushed by the worst bad beat everytime you play in a tournament

I accept it is part of the game. If you want to do it then fine, but I just don't do it at all any more. 9 times out of 10 it is poor etiquette and unnecessary... not to mention bad karma and a massive tell!

I can see some exceptions, like if you are playing someone you have history with, or against friends in a pointless game for a laugh...

But yeah, after a while you realise it is a real fishy donk move and you deserve a bad beat for a number of reasons:

1. It's a waste of your time. Quite literally.
2. You probably don't have the absolute nuts yet even if you think you do.
3. You wouldn't want someone else to do it to you.
4. You could disconnect or mis-click or who knows what could happen while waiting...
5. You are getting too emotionally involved in a short-term result which is bad for your game long-term.

On the other hand, yeah, it is still funny as **** when your opponent tries to slow-roll you and somehow loses! :)

I've never done it, I think it's just such a lame move.

I've been lucky actually, never really experienced as much as I thought I would of but I have been slow rolled a few times. Just makes me laugh doesn't tilt me. I just have found the few times I have been slow rolled I have sucked out on them. So maybe just karma.

In a live MTT I went all in with ATs, was a turbo structure and I had about 15 BB, was BTN, and a laggy bad player opened from MP for 3BB, I shove, all fold, he tanks (has me well covered), and calls. I turn my ATs over. He waits, turns his cards over on top of each other. A black A on top. He looks at me and smiles, waits and slowly slides the A to show the other black A.

Fkn A-hole. Slimy scummy *****.
