Thats good to know. I feel Im quiet an aggressive player (compared to the average player at my limits) so the swings come with the territory I guess (although I think if I had a 20BI day I would die haha).

For those of you with the larger daily swings, how do you manage to get any upward momentum? For me its a 2 steps forward, three backwards story for the time being.

Unless you plan on playing deepstacked PLO, ignore marginal on this topic... :D That game is designed to create huge swings like that.

Suggest we focus on at least two things when dealing w session swings in the 3-7 bi range (I fit in here as well).

First, are we making good plays - for me, this means making sure that:

1. My semibluffs are in spots where I actually have some fold equity (huge spew for me, semibluffing without reasonable fe expectation)
2. Passive fish who suddenly get active usually have TP/overpair beat.
3. When I can't figure out how the heck the repped hand got to that point in the hand, and the player looks bad, it doesn't matter how he got there, he got there.

If I'm making good plays and still playing 2 steps forward/3 back, I'm fine w it.

Second, beware "I've got to get back to b/e" syndrome. When the thought even occurs to me, it's an indication that I'm either already on tilt or just starting to tilt. Seriously. Literally. When I review sessions where I've thought that, it's embarassing to me to see how badly I play after that point.

Cuz of the latter, I've set a 4bi stoploss for myself that I usually (not always) stick to. I do change things up when I'm having a bad session as well, either dropping limits or playing PLO for a change of pace.

Too good to pass up - $1.50 for a shot at a coaching session w FP, forget about the prize money...

I suck at MTT's (and I'll be playing in the middle of my night to increase my disadvantage :D ), any of you in this thread who are pretty good at MTT's really ought to consider doing this (and even if you suck at MTT's like me, $1.50 for a lottery ticket isn't a killer here :p )...

[broken link~tb]

That's the same link. :)

I would like to see the thread that spawned that one. The one with the details of Fredrik's donation, who is accepting the donations, what they'll be used for, etc.

Guys, I wasn't aware of the circumstances of this tourney - pls check the last link Daks provided at WV's request - this looks very worthwhile on multiple levels, not just for the FP session - pls do consider joining the tourney for all those reasons - tks to Mortis, Roland, and everyone who's putting this together.

Cheers for those thoughts sly :)

I really like the idea of having a fixed stoploss in place.

I must admit when I lose a couple of BI's I do tend to become more results orientated than I am when I know I'm up a couple of BI's. Something else to try and work on as well.

Just to clarify: The free coaching is not entirely free; it's if the winner forfeits his or her winnings to the MrMuckets charity. If the winner decides to keep the money, no coaching.

Right - thanks for clarifying!

Tourney in memory of MrMuckets. They're asking that any winnings or donations be sent to dakota for donation to MrMuckets favorite charity, Feeding America iirc.

Fredrik has pledged $1 per person in the tourney and a free coaching session to the winner as long as they donate the winnings. I have agreed to buy as many people in as possible with my meager Stars BR as well as matching the donation made by the winner of the tourney.

Good guy. Good cause. Good time.

Monthly Review

My goal was to increase my win rate by 50%.

Was: 1.49 BB/100
Since 2/4: 4.31 BB/100
Overall: 1.99 BB/100

Check. :D

Break even at 10nl:
Was: Loss of $54 at 10nl.
Now: Won $103 at 10nl this month, so I'm now at +$49.

Check. :D
