I few days ago I got an email invitation (don't know who sold their membership lists) to be part of the Beta testing of a new web-based poker site, Cafrino. You know, Beta testing, for the computer savvy, means software has been thoroughly tested in-house, with all the known bells and whistles added, and opening up to a wider group to find any remaining bugs.
By that definition, this is a very bare-bones program. There is no FAQ or information on how to play the site - you are expected to discover the loopholes for yourself. (BTW, the screen is too large. One player asked, until he was eliminated for sitting out 10 hands, when the game was going to start. He didn't know that you have to scroll down to see the action buttons, and I didn't know that was the problem myself until I thought about it after he was eliminated.)
They gift new members with 'tournament play chips' which can be used to play for real money. Apparently, a large number of kamekazi or 'bingo' players have signed up, so it is very difficult to play your best while people are going all-in so frequently.
They say they want feedback, but do not provide an address. I could go on and on, but I leave it open - has anyone else tried the site? Comments?
