Here in the UK, online gambling is legalised and some of the companies which run online poker rooms (Victor Chandler, Virgin, william hill etc.) are household names and highly respectable corporations.
If a US citizen plays poker at one of these rooms, would I be right in thinking the US authorities won`t interfere ? Your WSJ article says the authorities don`t plan to prosecute individual small-time gamblers and they surely can`t sensibly prosecute a British company for carrying on in Britain an activity that the British government has licensed.
I don't think the USA could do anything to any of the companies who operate in non US territory such as the UK, but they *could* act against people who run these companies and enter the United States, like they did to the BetonSports guy.
