I am down on pokerstars and 888 because of poor bankroll management. Playing games I wasn't rolled for, playing bigger and bigger buy ins when on a downswing to replinish the losses. Constantly depositing 10-20 pound here and there the occasional 50 only to play 11 dollar 5 dollar mtts 2 dollar mtts and failing to score big and either losing my roll due to ill confidence after a bad beat or chasing losses. On pokerstars I was down 1,500 pound as of last week and on 888 I was down 650. For the last 2 weeks I have been excercising bankroll management sticking to a 100 buy in strategy.
Not only am I getting way more volume but my game has improved due to not tilting from a bad beat since I'm risking less and building a bankroll. I have started to right down on a sheet of paper my buyin, game type, prize earned and profit for a particular game. It makes the game for me more interesting since now I can keep track of my games and also in what level of buyin I am and game type which is most profitable for me.
I deposited 10 pounds into pokerstars after busting my 70 pound bankroll 3 days prior and 25 pound into my 888 account. My strategy was as follows. On pokerstars I would play mtt satellites for 0.20-0.50 cents and spin and gos for 0.25 cents. Doing so I managed to build a 74 dollar bankroll in just 2 days. I was crushing the spin and gos winning around 8 out of 10 of them and I was winning the majority of my satellites allowing me to play in tournaments I aint rolled for but am rolled to qualify for. Fast forward 2 weeks I had made a profit of 700 from the 10 pounds I deposited on pokerstars. I finished 2nd in the Saturday speedway which I won a satellite for 20 cents for. I withdrew 450 but I'm now rolled to play 3 dollar mtts and 2 dollar satellites. On 888 I doubled my bankroll playing 1 dollar sngs. I now understand the importance of bankroll management. It not only builds your bankroll but keeps you sane and disciplined. I have been lucky to win what I've won but I honestly believe managing my bankroll allowed that luck to be possible because I was making calls in spots I would have otherwise fold because I can take more risks.
