Sometimes I have fear of heights.
I don't know if it is real or not but for me it is.
I do well in poker and have a lot of points I fear to loss them and freeze.
Only play the safest hands and die because of the antes and blinds.
There are different types of fear. main two are the fear of loosing your money and the fear that game is rigged and you will loose no matter what you do. In the past my game was too passive and tight as i had fear that i will loose my money. Later i changed my mind and changed my approach to the game. Now i try to play my best game and take correct decisions and do not let fear of loosing or tilt to influence my game.
The best way to counter fear of loosing money is the good bankroll management. If you have good bankroll management and if you play with money which will not negatively affect your life if lost it is much easier to play without fear. The first thing that you should accept in poker is that the money given for buying are already gone. If you can't afford to loose them then just don't give them.
The other kind of fear is much similar to depression. When some players experience long downswing they start to think that the game is rigged in some way and no matter what they do they will loose. This is normal for human nature as it is easier to blame other people for your failure than to accept that the problem is your own game. In such cases the best thing is to stop playing for a while and made deep analyze of your own game lately. This way you will see if the problem is with your strategy which need adjustment (in most cases) or it is just variance.
Fear is a feeling that can be defeated. Its function is to alert us in dangerous cituations. It is an unpleasant feeling. So after our internal study and gathering experience we can vanish our fears. This of course has to do with poker too, and can help play better.
Mind over Matter, half the game to winning is your mindset. Never play with scarred money. If you are in have to win situations regualarily. You will be doomed!!!1:evil:
I no longer have fear! It was illogical anyway. I started looking at myself and realized the "scared" reaction was just a loss of control of my emotions.
Since I am still working on my emotions I have switched fear into a the F-it reaction. If I lose so be it, if I donk after a bad beat , then I am not in control of my emotions. I think it is more important to look at the game analytically and lose the emotion - hopefully I will success in this at some point
In my opinion, for poker , you must have no fear , just play your game right , and try not to do many mistakes. Focus on your game, and don think of losing ( do the thinking before you start playing , and remember it while you re playing) .
