Silver Level
I've been trying out zone poker at the $5 buy in .02/.05 level on Bovada. I have some questions about playing big pocket pairs versus anonymous opposition (from all positions).
I've noticed that set mining is a really good strategy since most players (me included) seem reluctant to give up big pairs... the thing is I've found myself the victim of set mining as well. Then there is the tendency at this level for some players to either make tragic big bluffs or just overvalue top pair.
On the one hand it seems like a horrible mistake to fold to aggression when you might be miles ahead - on the other hand when players start to get raisey on the flop they often show up with a set.
1. How do you play big pairs at micro stakes?
2. What does it take to get you to fold (how deep do you have to be for folding to be a reasonable option on flop, on the turn, on the river) - I realize that some boards ruin a pocket pair more than others - I'm talking about fairly dry boards where it looks like you're ahead to everything except a set.
3. Does pot control work for you at all at this level (I'm finding everything seems to go in on the flop whatever I do)
4. Do you have any tips for playing anonymous opponents.
