| The oldest poker software Occasionally during a tournament I will find myself being abused and sworn at. You have all seen it during a tourney it usually starts with "YOU CALLED MY RAISE WITH THAT?" followed by "YOU DONKEY" or "IDIOT" with the usuall ^&%*$'s thrown in for good measure. When this happens it makes me smile. WHY? Because I use the oldest poker software and sometimes, just sometimes I manage to pick up a lot of chips with it. There is no posssible way that I could compare myself with a professional player because I am and may always be a student of the game (read fish) but the software I sometimes use has been used by professionals and donkeys alike since the game of poker was invented. All players who take their game seriously will find themselves watching an endless amount of videos, reading lots of articles and books and of course blogs and web posts as well as staring across endless amounts of felt in order to learn the game as thoroughly as possible. But have you ever studied the oldest poker software? You and I know about pot odds, and we understand the power of position but if you have a favourite set of hole cards or always fold Jack Jack pre-flop then I am certain that you have been using this software without knowing what it is or what it is called. The software I am referring to and sometimes use is called Somatic Markers and it is such an unusual piece of programming that scientific studies have been made of it. Ok. So no matter how many poker video's you have watched, how many poker books and articles you have read, I have a gut feeling that you can continue your studies by following one of the links below. http://www.majastorch.de/download/geheimnis_en.pdf http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/somatic_markers_hypothesis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iowa_gambling_task gl & gg Last edited by deucem : 6th September 2009 at 8:30 AM. | Obviously disregard the last message now, but I cannot edit it any longer. This is a topic I am very interested in, and I will certainly read it in the morning. I was actually thinking about this on the way home from my weekly game this evening. There were multiple instances where I had a very very strong gut feeling that I should make a certain call, but instead, I let my head get in the way, and because of that I lost money. I'm very interested to see what all this has to say. |
