| New hold em variant I started working on a hold em variant with suit rankings and three hole cards (kinda like greek hold em). I'm also looking into some undercard ideas I saw. | ok so since i'm a jerk i forgot to post the rules and structure so.............. Players are dealt three hole cards and a winning hand must use two of these. Action is pot limit pre flop and no limit after the flop. Is a hi/lo split pot game although the non split works well too. To eliminate those pesky ties for the better hand suit rankings are used to determine strongest hand. Obviously this can be anything but I have been using the rankings from stud. I have played alot of this variant with my buddy and we came upon the idea to have a rotating suit ranking which really made for interesting play. The ranking comes in with the highest card in the players hand (for high) or the lowest in the low hand. Basically it could be called 3 card omaha 8 or better. For my money it is a pretty good little poker game and the third card makes for some better play than standard omaha (less donkish flushes) and a little more skill set than donk 'em. |

| There already exists in the world an established suit ranking scheme; Spades > hearts > diamonds > clubs. Don't be messing with established, adopted covenants. There are variants with similar rules already being played. The Zen network offers what they call OFC Knockout Holdem. 3 down cards, flop and turn. No traditional river. No suit ranking. They play it only hi, but any variation could be played hi/low. Which begs the question, why do we never see a HE game played hi/low? |

| @dj yes that was the suit ranking i was refering to, and as well i know that there have been similar games like greek hold em but i wanted to put all the aspects into play to eliminate any ties even though is a split pot game therankings allow for this |

| We used to play something similar in my former home game. I played with some older guys and they played mostly split pot games. We each got 3 cards on the deal and you had to put a standard bet with no raising in preflop to stay for the flop after you got your 3. Then you mucked one card. Then we played limit to showdown. We had quartering on ties just like omaha8 and Aces counted either low or high. It was basically a sociable game where you were lucky to win much with the splits. |
