Let me get straight to it. 1/3 game min buy in $60. Average buy in 100-200. rake is cap off at $5. Players at this game play very loose . Like sometimes they bet more then 10 times the bb pre flop when there is only $6 in the pot. You have players that call huge bets with 5,7 off justbecause to others called a huge bet. All ins can be seen every five hands on some nights. The game is really one of the only few that I have access to. If I could I would go to a casino but none in my area and the poker room is 3 hours away. I was told by some good players to play tight and just wait til I get good cards. I try to avoid any pre flop raises unless I have QQ or better. Any additional advice will be appreciated.

This is exactly the type of game I play in, except $1/$2. I consistently win with patience, by being the tightest player at the table. Hands like KJ and 33 are insta-folds; even suited aces like A7dd in early position I simply muck. I wait for premiums but also try to sneak in with speculative hands only when in position and when the raise (there's always a raise) is a bit smaller -- e.g. if I can play j 10 suited for $10 on the button.

One fun way to play this table is to buy in short (like $100), because then you can simply shove a hand like AK or JJ (assuming there was already a raise and some callers) and either pick up a lot of dead money or have a +EV chance to more than double up. Then, once you turn the $100 into $250, you can shift gears and people will still think you're that loose guy who jammed all in preflop with AK.

This game is the perfect one for a good player. You can get max value from your good hands and you get huge implied odds in LP on some of your speculative hands. Yes variance will be higher but discipline goes a long way toward reducing it.

IMHO buy-in for the max, play premium hands, make pot sized or larger bets and put others at risk for their stacks when you have the nuts. Don't get fancy with traps or bluffs, don't c-bet into multiway pots when you don't hit the flop, be VERY aware of stack sizes and who's left to act when it's your turn.

sounds like the ideal poker table to me! just play as tight as the other players are playing loose, and if your luck is half decent you should make a nice amount of money!

Bet big. If in pot pre-flop is $20 I doubt opponents are going to fold if you bet $30 instean of $15. Plus you can then bet bigger/stack the turn if you're still in good shape.

Punish limpers when you have a big hand. People like this love to see flops, jsut pump it up massively if you have a monster.

I appreciate the response. I read about buying in for 100 and shoving with AK jj etc. a hand like Ak isn't made hand yet do you really think that's a wise move In lose game like this . Also I do wait for the right hands but if they don't come in time the blinds will eat at my stack.

Yeah that about sums up the way poker is going. The more you raise the more callers you get hoping for the bad beat. They have taking most the skill outta the game and basically are just playing lottery hoping there #'s hit.

On a flop would you rather have or ?

What i'm trying to say is AK isn't a made hand here either, but it's about equities and not 'made hands' (what does that even mean?). Preflop is the same. I'd rather have AKs than 77 because if we get it in, we have better equity against their all-in pre flop range.

Without a doubt playing tight is the way to go in this game. Sounds more like bingo than poker.

I wouldn't listen to the guy that says just shove all in preflop with AK. With such loose and bad players, it's easy to get max value when you make your hand so just wait and see the flop. Plus you know these guys most likely aren't going to fold pocket pairs preflop, so why risk flipping a coin for $100 when their money is so easy to get?

I think the best strategy is to have a super tight range in early position and a somewhat looser, but still pretty tight range in late position. KJ, AT etc. are insta-mucks in early position, along with small pocket pairs. Playing small pocket pairs in late position is ok if you think you have a good read on your opponents and can tell when they hit the flop or not. Otherwise stay away from small pocket pairs unless you are priced in to go set fishing. I think it's profitable to play most suited connectors and suited aces in late position IF you have good pot odds. I wouldn't want to invest too much before the flop with these guys, unless I have AA-QQ. As for post-flop play, if you have a tight image, don't play too aggressive when you make your hand. Just make bet sizes that they can't resist calling. If they are betting every flop, check-call them on every street, and if you still like your hand on the river, bet big. Usually they can't resist calling the river weak when they've already invested a decent amount.

Also more importantly, pay attention to what these players are doing in hands even when you're not in them, and be really interested in seeing their cards at showdown because players like these are usually very easy to read and can be really fun to play against if you have tells on them, and have a good idea of what they do in most situations.

This table may have a lot of variance and you will probably have some bad beats here and there, given they like to play every hand, but it should definitely be profitable in the long run. Good luck.

I was playing a 1/2 a couple weeks ago. I'm new to it but it was similar. most people bought 100-200 but 2 bought like 400 i think it was. Since I was new to the game I wanted to tighten up from even normal play and figure how loose it was and who drives action. Try to get info that regs may have already known about eachother you know.
It was weird because they would say things like "really 4-2?" and try to get reads "we're you really chasing the flush" and it seemed like they knew the bad plays when it wasn't their own hands but then they turn up 4-2 suited and call the 10x raise.
Took most of the night but I left realizing I was easily top 3 of the 10-12 players and only left up 10 or so but it was just so confusing that they seemed like they knew the right moves and wrong moves but wouldn't apply it to their own play.

Just play abc, avoid the tight players because their probably doing the same.
