Library v.4
Picked up a few books on sale (hardcover), not really poker per se, but vegas/gambling related (see bottom of Biography section). Also rearranged it, putting a ton on little white shelf that holds way more than I thought it would.

Really hard to read, I don't know why. I wanted to gouge my eyes out halfway through, and reallly didn't seem to be getting anything practical out of it for a long long time. Maybe it was a style issue, but really it was a painful read, almost a dry technical psychology paper that was vaguely related to poker. Texas Hold’em On the Net by David Bradshaw Bad advice, and plenty of it. It's a pretty thin (self published?) book. There are some ok/good suggestions, but a new player might find it tough to separate them from the bad ones. It's clearly aimed at someone just starting out at online poker, so that's why I don't recommend it. Texas Hold’em Odds by Catalin Barboianu This one is essentially 140 pages of unreadable math. Recommended if you are writing computer code or if you are zachvac. I might add that the new Optimal Play book and Chen's Mathmatics of Poker book also come close to this, although Odds is even worse. Typical page looks like this: scan0002.jpg |

Wow, nice library.
What's your opinion of this one? Fighting Fuzzy Thinking in Poker, Gaming & Life by David Sklansky Also, which psychology book would you recommend if we were to start with only one? I've looked at several of them and they all seem extremely similar (aside from nitwits, Zen and Tao), and didn't know if they covered mostly the same thing or which ones you thought were better. Thanks. |
