I am a superstar donkey..
I have a basic grasp of the game and have been playing online for years and have ADHD so I was a 4 table guy until I started playing on FullTilt so I have played well into the millions range of hands.

I can predict betting patterns pretty well, and can calculate the percentage of hitting my outs but have yet to grasp pot odds
My overall earnings are likely down 3K but this is over an 11 year span doing 100 dollar buy ins online

I play .10/.25c and just sort of float around slowly dwindling my bankroll

Which leads me to my question, where do you folks recommend I start looking to improve my game.
Books..sites...etc...I'm not an idiot, good with math, good memory just never really applied myself to this game and figure I'm done buying your lunch

From my lurking on here today this does seem like a good idea, what are some good standards

I like to deposit 100...what types of levels should I be playing (I usually withdraw when I hit 200 but my spidey senses tingle and it always feels like I get raped after I withdraw)

I play the 10c/25c because it seems at that level you get less crazy play...am I wrong?

Well it depends what you like more of? I can see your a Cash guy so with a $100
You can Play .01-.02, or you can play the .02-.04 level, I wouldn't suggest anymore then that until you realize your/Get up to a Goal that your comfortable at...So I mean .01-.02 Work it up until say $100 from there you should have $200 Total and move up again, so like at .02-.04 Don't leave that level until you reach $200 will take a while to do that and then so forth and so on..

I'm not a cash guy though also, so someone else can better answer it for you

If you want to play 25NL put $600 in your account and start from there. If you only want to put $100 in your account start at the 5NL tables.

This wont guarantee that you will start winning, just that you wont go broke as fast. Hopefully before you lose that bankroll you will have read enough and started to play good enough that you will at least become breakeven and then start winning!

If you're depositing $100.00 and playing cash games, you shoulden't really be venturing out of .05c. I don't recommend you play 10nl even if you're competent as it's quite easy to lose 10 buy-ins in one session and a definite no no to 0.25nl for a $100.00. If however you don't mind depositing again then sure try your hand at .10c but if you do intend to deposit again you may as well just deposit the right amount from the off, $300.00 minimum I guess could work if you're competent enough!

I think 10NL is a good starting point as long as you are not afraid to deposit again. Be sure to be reviewing and posting hands to cover some of your leaks.

5NL and under is super easy, but you can create bad habits there too. 10 NL is pretty easy too, but there is less rake. The players usually still have tons of leaks to exploit. You will actually run across a few pretty decent regs here and there too. Try to avoid them as much as possible.

As you move up where you were 25NL things get harder. I would want at least 100K hands with killer BB/100 % before trying again. If you only lost $3k over millions of hands here, you should be a break even to slightly winning player at 10NL.

I suck at cash games, but can still pull off a slightly good win rate in the micros. It is very possible I would be slaughtered at 25NL. Then again, we'll see when the time is right.

If you have been playing that long and have played that many hands, your technical skills are probably fine. Assuming you have made steady improvements. With that said, have you examined other aspects of the game that are not card related? How do you react when your session starts to go bad? Can you walk away from the game when you are a small loser or do you look a huge chunk of your roll? How do you pick your tables? Is your butt glued to the seat when you play or can you get up and take a walk when you take a bad beat? What frame of mind are you in when you start a session?

The cards are going to do what they are going to do. You don't have any control over that. Knowing how to effectively manage yourself makes a much bigger difference than knowing how to 'correctly' play the cards.

with $100, start at .02/.05 then when you hit 200 take a shot at 10nl. If you lose at 5nl drop to .01/.02 and see how that goes.

I would have to kindof disagree that bankroll management is his problem as he doesn't really have a $100 "bankroll" when he redeposits frequently... As long as he is financially able to refresh his roll he could continue to play $25 games but it sounds more like he is a losing player at this stakes...

This still should lead you to move down in stakes but think you should look at developing a better understanding of the game through video sites or reading books... Then figure out what level you can beat and stick at these stakes till you have results (and proper bankroll) that demonstrate you can move up...

Buy a decent simulator and run 100,000 hands with no money at risk, but take it seriousely, while studying the books. If your win rate is positive, return to real money games. Many of the newer bots in these simulators are modeled after players from actual hand histories and play semi- realistically. I went from break even online / winning live to winning 3.5 PT bb/100 ($50nl multi table ~800 hands per hour) very consistantly online by doing this.

That actually sounds like an amazing idea, anyway I know that cheese burger stakes suck. Maybe save up for a 600 roll so you're able to sustain 25NL, personally I am very nitty with my roll but if you're able to do ok with only a few coolers and bad beats happening then ypu should be fine

I am in total agreement but i think you may have a slight err in your idea of what your bankroll should be. In my opinion your "roll" should be an amount set aside just for poker i.e i had a 2k bankroll but i only put 100 at a time on (i had a pokerstars and fulltilt account,and a major tilt issue hence the 100 dollar deposits) i played mostly .05-.10 PLO and .10-.25PLO so if your bank is really 500+ but your only depositing parts you should be ok...GL at the tables

If you're going to keep depositing $100's, Why do you feel the need to withdraw what is, hopefully, an insignificant amount to you.

I feel that although you could just keep depositing, it may be beneficial to tell yourself that you intend to build this roll, and that it is not expendable. Nurturing your bankroll in this way, with good Bankroll Management, may help to overcome reckless buy-in decisions
